i just ordered a touch up pen from lotusgarage.com for $20 shipped.

i have a chip in the front and thought this might cover it a bit.

edit: just got the touch up pen today (they sent it next day air) and it works great....fantastic service from newport motors.

What is the paint code of the yellow color that's on the Lotus badge, or the one that's closest to it? I assume the green on the badge is BRG.

Thanks.

wheels

Does anyone know the paint code for the wheels? My dealer parts man told me there is no code for the wheels. I have silver painted LSS wheels, built January 05.

Does this pen require clear coat spray after application?

I've only driven my AR Elise 300 miles and it's already got dozens of tiny white rock chips out of the front. Need to get that clear bra fast, but have to touch up first!

Ben,

Didn't you investigate this site before getting your elise? Eventhough the bra isn't perfect, it sure beats the peppered look by a long shot.

There's even a long thread by another laser blue guy who abjectly refused to pay for the predelivery installation. Then he complained bitterly after the first few hundred miles about him not having been really warned by Lotus about how easily our model's cast fiberglass succumbs to the tiniest of silt impacts. (As I recall, the level of whining stood in starkly ironic counterpoint to the particular ETer's screenname).

I think that thread inspired more initial buyers of the clear bra than anything anyone else could've argued.

Yes I read the site. I didn't expect such severe peppering in 300 miles because I bought the car with 800 already on it and it was virtually spotless.

The history of this car is starting to come together though. It was supposed to have the StarShield but turned out to be missing it in the front. I had the dealer make an allowence for this, but as the mystery continues to unravel I think that the missing StarShield indicates a recent repair and paint job, hence the spotless look.

Sam @ Premier told me to verify that the front was painted recently because I will want to be sure it has a chance to cure for 30 days so vapor doesn't get trapped under the clear bra and form bubbles.

I still need touch-up paint regardless of how I got in this situation

Could someone give me a hand. I am looking to order one of the little plastic bottles of touch up paint and clear coat from here: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/index.htm
First, I am having trouble finding the paint code on the door seal. My car is listed as phantom black by the dealer (lifestyle paint) which is what I believe it is. But what is the difference between starlight and phantom black? Can someone point me in the right direction and help me out.

I believe so, but what are visual differences. What I mean is how do I really know that my car is phantome and not starlight. I would imagine using the paint code is the only way to be sure but I can't find it.

starlight looks dusty, phantom doesn't (if memory serves)

starlight is metallic, i don't know what lifestyle indicates for lotus, it seems to be a mix, i was wondering if they were pearl or not, mono, or just different types of paint/basecoat.

phantom isn't listed on the offical paint docs yet that i could find.

Are the paint codes found somewhere different on the '06 Exiges? I can't find it.

Laser Blue is 3-stage?

I've read in other threads that all lifestyle paints are a 3-stage process, yet the paint code .pdf only list a "pearl" paint for CO. So what's the 3rd stage for LB? I'm about to do some paint repair and it'd be nice to get it right the first time.

Sorry I don't have the info. But I have an interest in what you find out. Please share what you learn.

Well as I got out of my car at work what do I see. I label INSIDE the tub that has the paint code . . . B123 = phantom black I would imagine. Cross checking now.

EDIT: So far it does not look like anyone else on the site has found it. I would imagine one of paint manuf. can make it.

Hi, I am close to buying an 06 lifestyle white car.

Is this color the pearl white as listed in the PDF referenced in this thread?

Is the touchup all combined or do you have build up the 3 stages?

Thanks.

Jeff

I don't think so. Your car would be Aspen White. That's a new color for '06. The pearl white listed on the PDF is an older color so I wouldn't bet that they're the same. With the exception of Chrome Orange, I'm having trouble finding info on the whole "lifestyle is 3-stage" thing.
