My wheels are the "High Power Silver" painted variety. Anyone know if Lotus now has touch up paint for them? |

'05 vs '06 LB info
'06 LB is B120 (not B85).
I'm posting about my paint repair experience in another thread and biobaggie mentioned that in his factory tour they said the metallic flake in LB is in the clearcoat. I'm thinking that my have been true for '05, but not '06. I accidentally ordered B85 because I couldn't find my code plaque anywhere on the car. When I tried to use it it was definitely less metallic and decidedly darker that my basecoat. Also, when sanding my factory clearcoat it came off without any evidence of metallic content. When I finally figured out my mistake and ordered the right code the match was perfect. Perhaps the '05 LB was 3-stage with a metallic clearcoat and the "modified" '06 LB is now 2-stage with all the metallic flake in the basecoat (though for some reason it's still worth an extra $1200).

Hi - can you tell me where on the car is the paint code?
My car is not here yet (bought used)...I think it is artic silver (bright silver metalic looking...I know it is not Storm Titanium). When you buy touchup paint is the metallic mixed in...or is it in the clear? Thanks. Jeff |

My code plaque was on the inside of the driver's side door sill--almost completely behind the seat.
Touch-up paint, for AS at least, will have the metallic in them.

Hey Randy
I'am a new member, first time on I have a problem that I see you have helped others with my 2007 elise had an unscheduled meeting with some small trees and after some great fiberglass work it was sprayed with what my auto paint supplier says was B122 this is paint code on drivers rail .The color is supposed to be storm titanium, the original window sticker shows an option charge for lifestyle paint, but after mixing the paint and shooting the repaired panels look darker almost like grafite grey Is he looking at a wrong year? Wrong manufactor (Dupont ect) Any help would be appreciated Last edited by stoneboss : 07-05-2008 at 10:42 AM. Reason: missing info |

Hey stoneboss, seems like no one has answered you yet.
B122 does seem to be (2006+) graphite gray according to the table above. If I understand you right, the driver's rail points to B122 and your sticker says Lifestyle paint (graphite gray, whereas storm titanium is Metallic Paint option) Are you sure its a storm titanium car? Just curious because of the 2 above things So my question to you is, does your car look like this: Graphite Gray: http://www.orangek.com/lotus/sr_5505.jpg or like this: Storm Titanium: http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/atta...um-thread-.jpg Last edited by def : 07-29-2008 at 06:01 PM. |
