Poll: Does your AC work well?

Lots of talk lately here about the Elise having a hot cabin. Many have complained about the poor AC, many more have said the AC works great.

I'd like a better consensus. How does yours do?

I would classify mine as poor. And, that's being generous.

It's a little weak but I think it's working as good as it is supposed to.

Mine is working pretty good. It has gotten pretty hot here in central Florida in the past month. I've had to start putting the top on an run the A/C so I don't sunburn or sweat to death. I'm orignally from a colder northern climate (like most people down here) so I don't take the heat as well as most. My A/C is doing great so far. Plus, I like the mechanical sound of the second cooling fan when it kicks in.

It's good on an average day but if it's really hot, and especially humid, it's barely Adequate. But I very rarely have the top on so it doesn't matter to me as much.

I had thought my AC was working fine (nice and cool and stays cool) but on a recent drive it finally failed. That is, it stopped blowing cold air and just blew warm air. I shut it off and started it back up 1/2 hour later and it worked again ... for about 20 minutes ... then it blew warm air again.

*shrug* - just FYI

Turned it on maybe 2-3 times for 20 minutes each. Works fine.

It never worked from day 1. So 2 days ago at my 1,000 mile service, I had it checked out and turns out it's a major problem. They had to order parts and said it's about a 5-6 hour job to fix it. Was rushing to leave, but they said something about having to drain the lines, etc. and it would take a while to fix it. I'll get the full explanation next week. Must have come from the factory like that

Most of my driving has been with the top off, so hasn't really been an issue, but will probably take it back to get fixed within a week or 2.

I've used mine for fairly long stretches before, and it always put out cool air, just not cold air like most cars. I have about 5000 miles on the car now.

Mine has been working fine. It can be very cold, and less so during stop and go traffic. When really hot weather comes around, we'll see how it goes.

Go to your dealer, Lotus has a fix for it. Your evaporator coil is freezing up. After you shut it off it thaws out and that's why it starts working again.

I noticed that the A/C gets a lot cooler when the engine revs up. It's terrible when in traffic. I also have the icing up problem on humid days. I'll mention it when I go in for my 7500 mile service

Mine is decent. I've had better but I'm glad it's there.

Mine did not work when I got the car last September. At the 1000 mile service they checked it out and said it just needed to recharge it. Well I just tried it today for the first time in months and of course it is blowing warm air - must have a leak

I had it looked at during service (there have been mutterings in europe about a fauly thermostat)...It did seem to be better now but the weather was also milder

Mine stopped working, and apparently has a coolant leak. Local shop to look at it next week, now that I'm getting the service manual to them (on disc).
