Where is the thermocouple sensor location? Or probe or whatever needs to be bent. I think my lovely Lola is suffering from something freezing up or other. It's torture down here in Phx, AZ with lousy A/C...

There is a better answer, get your dealer to replace the thermostat with a newer electronic version.

AC performance

I only have 1100 miles on my Elise, but I did try my AC one time on a moderately hot day and it seemed to work well. I had all the vents pointed towards me.
I will put it to the test this coming week on a hot day in Concord and report again.

On another matter:
At what engine temperature do the engine cooling fans come on ? ( ie those fitted below the radiator in the air intake duct)
Normal running temp for my car is 190 deg.
Once it went up to 208 deg but I could not hear engine cooling fans.

Also:
Could someone explain how I can make a photo of my car appear each time I post. thanks

Fans run at 1/2 speed when temperature hits 208'F, or if A/C is on & full speed at 217'F.

Had a couple of older 911's and my Elise A/C is way better and blows very cold. Even in AZ at over 100 the A/C keeps me cool enough to be comfortable and mine is an 05.

Okinawa is about the same latitude as the very south tip of Florida, so the sun will kick your a** over here mid summer. My A/C has to fight non stop to keep the car somewhat cool during the day on the highest setting with the air recirculating. During the night it has zero problems keeping the car cool. I'm going to get some clear UV tint put on the side windows some time in the near future to see if that will help out.

UV is not solar heat, "infra-red" is. The best tint is 3M Crystalline which in it's clear version can be installed on the windshield. Amazing stuff

Thanks, The guy near my house that tints (looks factory when he's done) uses 3M stuff, I'll have to see if he has it...

It is new in the U.S. market, but has been available in Asia for a while.

a/c work well?

If my A/C would stop needing repairs then maybe I would say it works decently to keep the car cool. I've taken mine in for the 4th time (3 yrs 8 months) because my A/C unit keeps springing leaks.

AC testing - New Elise

Mike
Outdoor temperature 100 F deg.
Recirculating switch engaged.
AC switch ON, coldest setting
Fan speed at 3
The temp at the register is 40F deg. ( excellent as far as I'm concerned)
Very comfortable in the cabin. 80F deg ( driver only, no passenger)

Where does the water that drips from the condensate drain go in these cars ?
On my other car it drips onto the pavement as on all cars.

My A/C works adequately enough. No complaints here.

Just inside the passenger front wheel. Don't expect much.

the water that drips from the condensation drain leaves a medium puddle on my garage floor. could the condensor be freezing over? anyone have a solution? a/c dies after like 20 min.

See posts 73 &74, although this is a less than perfect solution. The better way is to replace the capillary tube thermostat with a later electronic one.

I just took mine in for the second time in 1 year because of leaks. I might yank the whole thing out and put in something aftermarket if this keeps up. Anybody know where the sourced the crap from? My Supra took over 15 years before it sprung a leak. Maybe they should have sourced it from Nippon/Denso.
