Project Diamond plate is coming...

Lol, I was feeling left out without announcing a product that would be available soon....

So in the interest and going through some pics of older projects I ran across the start of this one- code word diamond. Started a week or so ago and havn't had any time to work on it with gettting caught up on the other graphic orders that came in

So...
Straight from the bowels of hell, it's project diamond made of liquid forged blah blah, insert hype here, blablablabla.

Any guesses to what it is?

Doh, I guess including the horrid camera phone picture would of helped.

Nope, lighter than floormats, lol.

Front clam replacement made entirely of diamond plate steel.

edit to add.. large geometric shapes made out of diamond plate looking graphics?

Stage 1 is square and circle. Look for stage 2 triangle soon. Working on stage 3 octagon, but it is a little tricky.

Whippie! What do I win?

Got a question actually. Can a window tint film be applied to the car's painted surface just like static-cling vinyl? I mean the suggested installation for the static-cling vinyl is to wet the surface and teh squeegy out the bubbles, right? Isn't that the same way window tinting is done?

The reason I ask is that there is some red-chrome type window tint film that looks how I want, but I want to use it for gumballs/numbers.

XTN, I do not have an answer for you on that. I have no doubts it will stick, it would be the removal I'd be worried about. The couple cars I have removed window tint from it was nasty stuff, they use a different sort of adhesive. I would think the translucence of the tint would change the color once on car too.

There is a company that is coming out with a very cool red chrome vinyl, but I have not been able to get it yet, my supplier does not carry it as there is no real demand for it, and I'm not sure it's actually on the market yet. I am getting them to start getting in some of the cooler stuff though. I'm supposed to be getting an actual decent looking carbon fiber next week.

What about reflective red? It will look like a stop sign at night.

Well I have an amazing computer driven plotter and some cool software.

Anyone ready for stage 3? Any guesses on the number de jour?

Once these are completed they will be available to the highest bidder, or first fair reasonable offer. I was just making them up for the heck of it to play with the diamond plate material and work with layering this design. I can make class #s to match. Also I can put them on to a static cling backer for easy removal and re-use.

Regular chrome can be substituted for Diamond plate in the future, I was just playing around with new materials I picked up. (Isn't not sleeping wonderful some times?)

Many, many, many years ago, I recall seeing a static cling window tint film for sale in my local auto parts store. Ok, I confess, I bought it and tried it out. Kinda sucked as window tint, but might work for what you had in mind (if it's still available).

Here is the finished product. They measure 13" across. I can also put these on a static backing if anyone is interested. And make class #'s to match

I just made these for the heck of it. So if you are interested in them let me know and make me a fair offer. (when making your fair offer keep in mind the thousands of dollars in equipment, the high quality materials, and a couple hours of time involved, and that like you I drive a Lotus and not a Hyundai)

I will probably also make a set in chrome and one in brushed aluminum replacing where the diamond plate material is. I also just got word that my good carbon fiber film is in, and I'm picking up a small roll tomorrow.

Again, the camera didn't really capture the gloss on these. And the tri-oval is british racing green, not black.

(the small triangles are just registration marks used to make them, they are not part of the graphic and will be removed-unless for some reason you just really like them.)

I appreciated the samples you sent me, but they were not what I was looking for. I will order something from you eventually, to show my appreciation for your troubles, but I'm still trying to source the material I want.

no problem. Keep in touch. There is new stuff coming out all the time. Since I get a lot of the weirder materials I've been able to start getting my supplier to start carrying more of them. Like the carbon fiber I'm picking up tomorrow. Been waiting on this stuff to come out for awhile. I've had carbon vinyl for years, but hey- it looks like a sticker. This new stuff looks awesome. Actually looks like carbon fiber twill. I can't wait to start fooling with it.

And it's not like just because I don't have it in stock doesn't mean I can't get it or that it's not made.

It's an unfortunate part of the custom graphics industry... As an artist, you hope your designs/products get better and better. But then past clients sometimes feel like they got the short end of the stick. It's unavoidable.

These look awesome. I paid a bit extra for the static backing and it works great. I will be rocking these out at Hallett Raceway on the 25th and I'll try to get some "Action" shots.
