Larry
Why thank you Larry! Perhaps being English is why I 'get' OEW, having only really ever seen it on English classic cars and therefore I've got a different association with it. Probably in the same way that the Japanese like white cos it's their racing colour. To me an Elise in OEW is acknowledging it's heritage (as is BRG). OEW makes me think of the Works MGBs (red w/OEW or BRG w/OEW).

I'm going to be getting OEW stripes on my car, btw. Obviously yellow over green says 'Lotus', but I think OEW will work just as well, and actually look better with the biscuit interior than yellow would.

White..??? Personally I don't think white looks good on the Elise. Sports cars are supposed to be wild and racy with colors to match. I agree that Lotus made great color choices with offering the Laser Blue or Chrome Orange (my color ordered) and yellow.
Look at the pinnacle sports car manufacture Ferrari, most of their cars are done in eye catching colors like Ferrari red or bright yellow, not white. Really, how many white Ferrari's or Lambos or Porsches do you see on the roads?
The color white was made for boring, four door sedans not sports cars. However if your talking pearl white, that is a different story.
Larry, maybe check out the colors again and think it over. Remember it's a sports car not a sedan. Plus, they will probably not bring out the car in white. Lotus is going crazy with all of the U.S. orders, trying to fill them. I don't think new colors are going to be at the top of their list.
I would put in your order as soon as possible. If you wait too long you risk missing out on this Elise’s body style and might have to go with the new design. I would not risk that for a color.
Something to think about.
Cheers

i would have definitely been up for OEW. very classy and with the accent contrasts of the elise it would be quite fine.

Cool titanium white

Elise will look fantastic in titanuim white! That is the colouring I would get, if available.

How many Lambos do you see? Period.

I don't know about you Maverick, but the white Countach is a hugely eyecatching heart-stopper.
It's not just me. One of them won again at the Concours D'Italia this year.
That's a persnickity bunch to please if ever there was a Maverick.

Disagree with the first (obviously of course everyone has different color preferences - except for common dislike of Aztec Bronze) but agree with you on the second. I think white looks great as a canvas for stripes (either racing or pin) and makes a great background for a broad spectrum of wild paint jobs.

I have seen Ferraris (one), Lamborghini (1) and 911s (several) in white that I really liked. But of course again it is a completely subjective opinion

I am not familiar with this color. Has Lotus offered it in the past? And do you have pictures of any examples (Lotus or non-Lotus)?

Sports cars are 'supposed' to be whatever colour the owner liks best. Sure lots of people follow the 'loud car, loud colour' theory, but the other argunment is that sports cars don't need to yell 'look at me!' cos people are already looking. Just get whatever floats your boat.

Thanks Larry. It's my pleasure.

If you were at the Concours this year, you could have clamied to have seen two white Lambos simultaneously.

While there, I found another feature of the Countach that ties me to her. See the pic below.

Of course, you realize, how then that this ties the Esprit to the Countach?

I agree with offroad35. If I wanted white I would also take the time to change some of the other details on the Elise that I don't care for such as the side marker lights. If you want white so badly, it seems like a small price to pay to repaint a yellow or red one to the exact color you want. Someone mentioned pearl white. I think this would be a beautiful color on the Elise. Financially versus time, it would be much less of a penalty to repaint the car than waiting for, and probably never getting, the OE White from Lotus. I intend to surgically remove the side markers from my CO, and very likely some other major body design changes, when I get it. I say go for an earlier delivery and change it if you don't like it.

Now if you could get the factory to do a custom paint job, that would be even cooler.

John

I saw several Old English White cars at the lotus factory a few weeks ago. The color definitely has a yellow or orange caste to it - cream/ivory. I personally was disappointed by it.

I think Lotus is testing a number of new colors. I saw a hand written list of new 'pilot colors' stuck to a pillar on the production line. Unfortunately there were no samples around.

"i think lotus just missed the mark with aztec bronze. if it was closer to the volvo, miata or 350Z "copper" or whatever they call their orange-like car I think it would have been more successful.

when i first heard aztec bronze i was intrigued since i've always liked the new copper colors of today's cars. then i saw aztec bronze in the color chart and almost hurled!"

I have a 350z in "copper" called sunset orange and I think it's downright sweet! Grabs more attetion than any other vehicle I have owned to date.(notice i haven't recieved my Elise yet) Although I hate similair colors that I have seen other auto makers like chevy put out. I think Nissan just got it right.
