Does anyone know how exactly that wing attaches to the back? Do you have to screw it in or is adhesive strong enough? I guess you can never remove it?

Adjustability of wing and splitter

Neither are adjustable, however a wickerbill or other means could be used to adjust downforce. As is, the combination adds a significant (>100 PSI of downforce) as compared to single digit downforce for the entire car. I expect the Elise with wing, splitter and the top up will perform similarly to the US Exige. The US Exige has a slightly longer/wider nose and the "fast back" roofline which may give slightly more downforce and provide less drag. I look forward to track testing.

Installation of the PB Racing wing; A template supplied by PB Racing is used to drill holes in the engine cover, the wing is bolted to the cover AND an adhesive is applied.

Anyone else interested in getting the Carbon Fiber PB Racing wing? Maybe we could get a few and save on shipping.

lucien, did you get it yet?

PB Racing wing and splitter

The PB Racing wing and splitter were installed on my Elise yesterday. I will post pictures Monday. The quality and fit are excellent. I will be testing at Road Atlanta next weekend. Anyone have lap times for Elise cars at Road Atlanta?
If anyone is interested in obtaining wings and splitters from PB racing, I will be glad to assist in the process. Perhaps price AND shipping costs would be less if several were purchased and shipped at one time.

What day will you be at Road Atlanta?

Anywhere from 1.50 to 1.45, depending on conditions. My personal best is 1.47.77 and Dan Parker has done a 1.45.something.

Testing at Road Atlanta

Cogito,
I will be at the Hyper Sport shop Thursday Aug 11 and Friday Aug 12 then Road Atlanta Saturday Aug 13 and Sunday Aug 14 at the NASA HPDE to tweak/learn/test Ergo Zoom. Thank you for the lap info. Zoom validates Cogito.

Is there any bracing to structural pieces? If the only mounting is by tape and bolts drilled through the fiberglass there may be a loss of stability or loss of the wing at speed when downforce and drag are fairly substantial. The forcedfed wing has aluminum struts in the boot that attach to structural pieces and are firmly attached to the vehicle.

Similarly, the splitter should at least have something on the inner side of the nose to spread out the pressure on the fiberglass. I saw a front splitter rip completely off the front end of an elise at over 100 mph due to a sudden increase in downforce while braking. Fortunately, the driver didn't lose control but there was significant fiberglass damage.

PB Racing wing and splitter

Pictures taken today of PB wing and splitter, still intact. More pictures to follow.
Tested yesterday to 124 mph. Car sticks to surface like super glue. Supports for wing to be installed next week. Ben is right, you must tie the wing mount to a solid part of the car that is attached directly to the chassis to make it stable. Note last picture of Elise in front of Dodge without wing or splitter and on street tires at VIR.

LUC - Did they supply the supports or did you have to fabricate them?

Pics of the underside of the wing and the support structure would be very much appreciated.

OK....silly question....But if the wing is mounted by attaching it directly to the chassis, how do you open the trunk??

PB CF Wing, More pics

PB Racing supplied a template, hardware, and washers but not the supports. Kirt and I will fabricate the support struts this week while we prepare the car for testing next weekend. Will post pics soon.

Looks great! Did you paint the splitter or is it available color-matched? Another picture request: the splitter to the underside of the front clam attachment.

Wow,

Very nice,

Thank you for taking the time to answer all the questions and posting your pics. How is the visibility if any out the back window now?

Scott
