I talked to Kirt @ Hyper-Sport today. He said the driver of the car stated positive things about this setup at Road Atlanta. He said it dropped his top speed on the back straight by about 3mph but it felt more stable above 120 where the car is known to feel a bit loose.

I wish I had known about the event this weekend. I would have been there in a heart beat!

NASA HPDE Weekend @ Road Atlanta 8-13-14-05

Wing and splitter function well, stabilize car at high speed while probably lowering top straightaway speed by a fraction. No evidence of deforming or cracking of engine cover.
Thanks to Mick for posting pictures of the wing and splitter at the track.
Also, NASA-Southeast.com has lots of Elise on track pictures from 8-13-14-05. Also check out silvereightstudio.com/NASA_RA_8-13-05/ for more Elise on-track pictures.
Kirt Wightman of Hyper-Sport and I have a project underway to enhance the engine performance of track day cars. Because of Kirt's close relationship with Lotus we can't announce any details yet.
As requested, will post pics of the latest tweaks like a quick release Sparco steering wheel, DEKA battery installation using Elise battery hold down system, Helmet hook, engine cover latch pin and rubber bumpers to stabilize wing, radio box and push to talk button.
The Elise needs no tweaks to be fun but its even more fun to tweak and see what happens!

Sparco Quick Release Steering Wheel

The quick release mechanism and steering wheel came from Hyper-Sport in Atlanta.
A small piece of black electrical tape makes the airbag light disappear.

Seats

The seats are base Lotus Elise seats with Corbeau harness inserts which are available online.

I love that steering wheel and the quick release kit!!!! Is the wheel smaller than the stock one? Was the LOTUS badge on the wheel when you bought it?
thanks!

Guys here are pics of the wing we offer at SCelise. It's adjustable and comes color matched to your Lotus.

For more information on this wing go to

Quick release steering wheel

Ara,
The diameter of the Sparco steering wheel is +-3/4 inch smaller than the base wheel. The wheel comes with a Sparco emblem with adhesive on the back. I purchased the Lotus emblem separately. In order for the Lotus emblem to fit you will need to enlarge the center opening a little.

Sticker,
Have you tested this wing on the Elise at high speed? Without adding downforce to the front of the car this wing may unbalance the car at speed. Most Elise drivers aren't into show.

I ask this because a track I drive a lot has a turn where you brake from 130 mph to about 44 mph. The Elises balance and aerodynamics are very well tuned by Lotus and more down force in the rear would upset this.

If you say you have to enlarge the center hole, does the emblem sit flush in the wheel? If so, how does it stay there then?

Ara,
The Lotus emblem is flush with the wheel and is held on with double sided tape or adhesive.

www.ragnorakracing.com has the italian designed pb racing cf wing and splitter. I don't know how much downforce it generates but it looks incredible.

the engine cover on these cars seems kind of flimsy, I wonder how well the wing connect, how it connects?

Same with the splitter, does it screw into the fiberglass?

One part of me likes it, the other part says the wing looks out of place. Maybe its because there's no hardtop on the car?

EDIT, talking about the Ragnorak items...

I got a good look at the rear wing on the US Exige yesterday. It basically mounts to the rear engine cover the same way that the PB Racing wing does. I asked Simon about how the downforce is transmitted to the chassis and he said that the downforce simply pushed down on the rear clam. So even the factory setup doesn't have any fancy braces that mount the wing to the chassis.
