The measurements were taken from the surface of the clam (or the lower bracket) to the outer surface of the spirenut (which should correspond to the length of the required standoff). The spirenut material is 0.8mm in thickness, and the OEM fasteners come with a combination nylon/rubber washer used between the scoop and spirenut. The washer is a total of 2.5mm thick.

Pictures:

1) Mounting standoffs with measurements (14.9mm, 26.75mm, and 28.0mm)
2) Scoop in place (note tighter fit at bottom)
3) OEM hardware with nylon/rubber washer

I want a complete set... wide scoops.. standoffs... screens

Here is a good source for screen material...

McNICHOLS offers a full line of metal and fiberglass products primarily with holes in them. Products include perforated metal, grating, flooring, wire mesh, expanded metal, structural shapes, stair treads, ladder rungs, handrail components, trench dr

Something in the perforated metal line... honeycomb, hexagon, or perhaps a flattened expanded metal.

The "wide scoop option" will add $60 to the price of the base scoop kit.

The base scoop kits are shipping now, it will take a couple weeks to get the wide scoop option shipping.

ok apk if im reading this right i need to subtract the 2.5 mil for the washers right?that will be the stand off thickness?you measured from the outer edge of your clip nut on the bracket to the body.nice work on the photos and photo shop with measurements.the fit also looks good too.also are both sides of the car the same?

nice find there qball.i have been looking for a better source for the expanded aluminum.they have the size im looking for.i got some from custom car grills and it was powdercoated black.its not flattened like what is on the exige.so it has more open area.but it was way to expensive.im looking at getting it bare and then once formed.have them anodized black.still working on the price.

No... since I'm using the washers, the standoff length is as indicated... if someone did not use washers (I wouldn't recommend that), then the standoffs would have to be 2.5mm longer.

Yes, that's right. Note that on the Exige, the holes that the spirenut snap into on the clam are rather large... if the diameter of your standoffs is less than about 12mm, you may need a washer between the standoff and the hole (assuming you're using cylindrical standoffs, not brackets as I am).

Thanks! Yes, the sides are very close to mirror images of each other.

EDIT: If you're using cylindrical standoffs, two things I'd be a little concerned about (forgive me if you've already worked this out):

1) the location of the holes in the side scoop... I used a paper template from TWRD, which matched the holes in the OEM scoop exactly. That puts the top two holes in perfect position, but because of the angle and curvature of the scoop, the bottom hole might need to be a little lower than the OEM position
2) In a similar vein, the surface of the scoop is nearly parallel to the top holes in the clam, but the bottom hole is angled slightly to the bottom bracket.

Since I used aluminum brackets, it's fairly easy to tweak the position of the spirenuts... I don't know how much room for adjustment there'd be with cylindrical standoffs...

alright.so the measurements you listed are what i need to cut?i thought the way you measured it that the washer was in the middle and you would have to take off from the stand off height to use the washer.i noticed when i fit the larger scoops to my no drill mounts that the holes will be in a slightly different spot.so i will provide a paper pattern for the holes on the elise.if you feel comfortable with your exige pattern then people could use that for the exige.
one last thing i will need is the width from the door near top and bottom out to the inside lip of the scoop.this is so i can make the grills for the exige.

i forgot to mention that i was going to use 1/2 inch hex bar to make the stand offs.so its close to 13 mil.is that to small for the exige holes?i can get some bigger bar if i need to.

Yes

I measured the height of my brackets, which already take into account the thickness of the washer... so it would be the same height as the standoffs.

The pattern I have is an exact pattern of the OEM Exige scoop holes, which probably locate the bottom hole a bit too high... if your pattern works on your no drill mounts for the Elise with the larger scoops, I think it would work on the Exige too (since your mounts are intended to duplicate the OEM scoop mounting positions).

I'll try and get to that today... I'm leaving SD tonight for a week; so it will be my last chance to take measurements from the car for a while.

Let me check on that too. How are you attaching the scoops/standoffs? Are you drilling and tapping the standoffs to be attached with screws at both ends, or are you drilling a larger diameter hole in the standoffs to allow longer screws to attach directly to the spirenuts on the clam?

EDIT: Oh yeah, just to pick a nit... when you say "13 mil", I think 13/1000ths of an inch... I usually abbreviate 13 millimeters as 13mm...

the hex bar is 1/2 inch or 13mm.i made a pattern off a stock exige scoop and marked the wider scoop.i had to move the holes slightly from stock.the stand offs i made for the no drill mounts where tapped 5mm x .80.i put a stud in one end and the other is open for mounting the scoop.i think on the exige you could put a screw in from the back side to mount the stand off.correct?

Yes, correct... a fender washer or equivalent would be recommended since the holes in the clam are probably too large for a typical 5mm washer.

I took the following 3 photos at the top, middle, and bottom of the side scoop... I hope this helps with determining the grille dimensions. Don't mind the ghetto electrical tape on the front edge of the scoops...

But why would I need a scoop "adapter" kit when my Exige S is already set up for scoops. Wouldn't I just a set of "stand-offs" to adapt the wide scoops to my existing Exige S scoop mounts?

your right qball.thomas was saying that the elise mounting kits are shipping now.im working on both the adapters for the elise and the exige wide scoop option.so all you will need for the exige is a set of stand offs, grills and wide scoops.

Would it be possible to just us longer bolts to secure the wider scoops into the stock Exige mounting holes?

what i am making for the exige is a threaded piece of hex bar.you screw this to the exige mounting points.then you attach you scoops to the threaded stand off.it will work the same as what apk has done.only in a lathe turned piece of aluminum.

Yes, but you'd still need something to act as a spacer between the scoop and the mounting points on the clam/bracket (i.e. a hollow "standoff").
