Unofficial Center Console Thread - Lthr, CF, Painted

I hate my center console. It scuffs easily and looks cheap. Therefore, I am considering options.

I see Lotus of Greenwich has leather and painted options (but not in every color). Leather looks nice. I wonder if it will get damaged at the base from dress shoes when exiting like the scuffs I see now on the plastic.

Sector111 has CF whic is actually cheaper than the leather options from Greenwich.

What have you done with your center console, how much and lets see some pics.

I have the black leather center console. All black even the stiching.

I love it.

No scuffing but you have to take care of it.

Looks great!!!! Worth the money!

The one addition I would DEFINITELY make.

Looks alot like the one in Sean's picture above.

Have a red Elise and like the leather as above. Base is black with red stitching, top is red with black stitching. Was done via Dealer through Lotus trim shop. Not only look's good, but muffles most of the linkage noice.

I like how the perforated leather one looked on this one:
http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38554
to go with the perforated leather seat cushions...

I painted my console myself (very carefully) to match my car body color, and it came out great. I like the painted look better than leather.

I painted my, or rather, my body shop painted mine. I provided the paint and a case of beer and I was good to go. I didn't want leather as I'm actively looking for things to remove from the car and thus didn't want to go the wrong direction.

If I had it all to do over again, I'd probably leave it unpainted since I now worry about scratches and keeping it clean where before I didn't give a rip.

I personally like the Alcantara. (Suede look.)

Only took a half hour to install.

i am not a fan of ANY alcantra in these cars. nothing else came in the car so why do it? go leather or black. the colored ones are to obnoxious for my taste. leather just kind of seems to flow with th interior and the console "goes away"

I agree! This alcantra or aka "imitation suede" doesn't seem to fit IMHO. Kind of reminds me of those "pimp mobiles" of the 1970's with the wild color suede interiors, suede dashes etc. Anyone remember those?

I had mine painted to match the body, LRG, but already have a good scratch in it. Don't know where that came from, but I'll have to be more careful in the future.

WRONG!... My Exige S has some Alcantara in it. Check around the door handles...

I've actually been thinking about the Alcantara route for the center console... or paint it.
