Hands down the Carbon looks better to me. Bane, how does the shift knob feel? Does it insulate the shifting as a leather one might?

YOU DO THE MATH

280$ for Lotus trim shop or you could take your existing center console to a leather upholstery shop and pay like 140$

hmmmm i'm no rocket scientist but i think that comes to about 140$ difference...like 5 tanks of fuel!!! or an oil change and 4 tanks of fuel?

That may be true but for $140 I like the fact that mine is from the factory and I don't think that price is bad at all. Consider what any other car company would charge IF they would even consider doing a custom piece. One more reason why I love the Lotus so much. On more than one occasion I have had direct contact with the factory and they treat me like I'm their only custmer!!!!

I bought mine at the South Bay Lotus "going away sale". Your local dealer may sell them.

They're fairly easy to do yourself.

I'm interested in possibly painting mine... I know I can get paint mixed to factory colors in cans... but what about the "metallic" part of Solar Yellow... isn't that a top coat before the clear coat?

Or is Solar Yellow = Saffron yellow + metallic top coat?

Looking for knowledgable advice.

Thanks.

Looks like he used the sharpie method Search around for it, you'll find info.

I love both the painted and CF looks, btw. I'm going to try to paint mine black, but with a deep gloss (like on the CF pieces). My interior was black to start with, I just wanna get rid of that big ugly gray plastic in the middle!!

black console

I like it. What kind of paint did you use on your console? How's it holding up?

MY paint seems hard as nails so no problems,

I used Hycote paint.

the numbers in the gear knob I used the lotus paint stick as my car is black, was heavy handed and just chiped the excess on with my thumb nail :-)

My Elise came with the center console painted to match the interior. I haven't seen any others like that.

Painted mine

I just painted mine with "Krylon Fusion" paint. It's made to adhere to plastic. The only prep I did was to clean the heck out of the console before I painted it. No sanding at all, so I kept the texture. I used a satin black, and I think it looks great. The paint seems to be sticking very well. I can't scrape it off with my finger.
