the top has a foam pad(black) and the opening mechanism is a small "t" handle that retracts locking bars front and rear [one on each side]

Thanks Peck!

Was this already discussed here? I searched and searched and could not find the answers to these questions. My apologies to the Internet Gods if this whole thread is a rerun.

Shinoo,

Are there any pics of the Gullwing with the tops removed? I'm trying to figure out if the center bar is permantly fixed or can it be removed when going topless?

thanx

-Nice shots, Shinoo! Just for the record, what color are the units in their unpainted state? Are the interior and exterior the same 'unpainted' color?

Too bad. That offset is less than pleasing.

Big thanks Shinoo. Its finally becoming clear. If the rear lip was gone these would be almost perfect. That seems to be the only thing that really deters from the overall design. The front lip I can live with. Either way, I already have my deposit in and plan to take delivery whenever they become available.

Sometimes we have no alternative but to take some 'lip' from
others.

Can you clarify? Are you talking about the red area, the blue area, or something else?

The red area. That zig-zag, instead of straight up and across, rubber moulding is what everyone prefers wasn't included in the design.

Shinoo...what is the size of the opening front to rear near the top edge of the window when the tops are removed? You can see the loss in F&R space pretty well in the new PICs.

I was talking about the rear lip. Why the seal has to be two inches from the rear deckline is beyond me. The only explanation must be water control. Here is how I think it should look:

And here is how it is:

I have not measured yet but I highly doubt that extra 2 inches is to make the tops fit in the trunk.

one explanation might be the need to seal against the window and the roof mount simultaneously. can't control the seal well in a 90 degree corner between roofline/window... does that make sense?

how easy is it to completely remove the t-top roof for the summer months? as 'easy' as removing the stock hardtop?

The hardtop seals just fine so I am not sure what the difference would be.

The description on Shinoo's site says that the top is easy to install so for the summer months I assume you can just as easily take the whole thing off and use the soft top

Taking off the three 'H' portions will require a bit of time. Shinoo was referring to taking off and putting on the 'flip-up' panels in a
minute or less. You can't use the soft top unless you remove the 'H'.

Does anyone have this top yet? If so, can you explain the pros and cons?
I'm very interested in this top because of my height [6'4"].
Thanks.

No you can't do that..the gull wing set up replaces the whole top bodywork including the pieces that continue over each sail panel. Once the thing is on it's on more or less. So your open air experience is changed to removing the two top segments.
