Wide side scoop alternatives?

I'm thinking about putting some side scoops on my Elise to maximize airflow into the engine compartment (along with a different rear grille).

The TWRD look nice, but I'd rather not spend megabucks to save a few ounces with carbon fiber over fiber glass. Unfortunately, they don't make a fiber glass economy version.

The other scoops I've seen seem to be about the same size as the stock Exige scoops.

Does anyone know if someone is making a reasonably priced wide scoop?

Thanks,

Joe

im thinking about doing a wide version myself.i need a set of stock scoops to then widen and pull molds from.not sure when they will be done.at that point they could be laid in carbon or a good quality e glass for a cheaper price.the twrd scoops are chop stand fiber glass with a cosmetic carbon outer layer.

I have a set of stock scoops that I was going to install with your / RLS's mounting kit. Do you just need to borrow them or chop 'em up?

the process would be to pull molds from a stock set.then pull parts from those molds.then make the wide set from those parts pulled from the molds.then make the wide scoop molds.so i would end up with both stock and wide molds when all said and done.the process should not hurt the stock scoops.the thing im worried about on mine is the paint matches my car perfect and they also have clear bra on the front edges.so if your scoops are not color matched to your car yet.also if you would be interested in a wide set.i would sell you a set at a very cheap price.like material cost.

I've got a stock set of '06 Exige scoops w/ the factory mesh currently installed. They are unpainted (black). You are more than welcome to use them as I wasn't planning on installing them until sometime later this offseason. I wasn't planning on color matching them (I think the stock black will look better on my Graphite Grey, otherwise they'd be too matchy-matchy for my tastes). Lemme know.

yea frank i will take you up on that.the only thing would be the grills.they would need to come off to do the molds.but i can hook you up with some carbon ones at material cost or a set of e glass for free.then i would install the better open area grills to the new scoops.plus you could also have the stock ones back.send me a pm and we can work out the details.
