Lotus Extended Warranty from 06 HRM

I bought a Exige from one owner guy who bought the car from Hunting Ridge Motorsports in 06.

He bought a extended 5YR/60k "Platinum EXTD Warranty." My window recently broke and I called my dealer and they said the warranty went out in April.

Does anyone know how this warranty works, does anyone have this warranty from HRM? I am guessing there is a transfer process if it doesn't show up in the system, therefore maybe a after-market warranty they sold?

...Trying to ride my benefits out, why not?

That is a Lotus extended warranty, and it's transferable, so it should be good to go??

Are you sure that it is a LOTUS warranty? A lot of dealers sell their own warranty and since HRM is out of business, you might have something that is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Also, there are aftermarket warranties that Dealers sell that if you dealer goes out of business and he owes the warranty company money, the warranty company will not honor them.

I would suggest you call Mark Starr and ask. He still sells cars and his number can be seen on the internet.

I am not certain that it is a LOTUS warranty, by it coming up in the system as expired then I would assume it is not through LOTUS.

No, just the bill of sale where he bought the car and it says extended warranty for about $1500. he mentioned that it should just go on with the car and not have to be transferred.

This sounds to me like the warranty offered by Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc. that is offered by Lotus dealerships. "Platinum" is the highest level of coverage -- and the $1,500 price tag sounds about right for 5 / 60.

I have this same extended warranty -- it all fits in your case.

Call Fidelity at 1-800-327-5172.

Good luck!

As an addendum to the aftermarket warranty thread see current Car and Driver (I think). It is a short article by a columnist who called the three biggest companies, those you see on SPEED every 15 minutes, and checked on their offers and their backround. Some of the BBB reputations are not the best. Let us know how this works out, hopefully for the best.

Thank you!

I will try them, I had no luck with JM&A, they must have thought I was crazy telling them the VIN number and Previous Owner and they didn't have anything in their system. I had figured that the warranty was never filed...

I bought this same extended warranty from HRM. It was in fact advertised as a Lotus warranty and one that all Lotus dealers would honor. I was working at a Lotus dealer at the time, but they did not offer the extended warranty. Apparently there is an upfront cost associated with offering this warranty and not all dealers see the profit margins in selling them. I did recently have to use my extended warranty. The dealer asked me to bring in a copy of my contract to verify the terms and coverage.

While I was at HRM, we offered the Fidelity/ JM&A extended plan that was "authorized" by Lotus. We only offer the most complete coverage as it was, at that time, the only one available to Lotus owners. Later on, I understand from other dealers, lower coverage options became available.

Mark is definitely the one to talk to. Give him a call and he should be able to address your concerns.
