425HP Lotus Exige S240 DRS Built Engine Radium Turbo Quaife Sequential Gearbox

2008 Lotus Exige S240 - Ardent Red - DRS Turbo Build - Street/Track Monster!

The car was just serviced and ready for the new owner. Brand New Garrett dual ball bearing turbo, changed trans fluid (Motul Competition Gear oil 75W140), changed the engine oil (Motul 300V Racing Engine oil 5W40), changed the coolant (Redline Water Wetter, Distilled water, Super long-life Coolant), changed all of the injector o-ring seals, changed spark plugs (NGK Spark Plug BKR8EIX-11). Less than 50 miles ago DRS replaced the EFI ECU, replaced Radium Fuel Rail, updated the tune, dyno tested, and basically set-up the car to be in 100% top-notch mechanical working order. Since purchasing the car I have put over $30K into it (over $80K put into it by the previous owner before I purchased it) and I hate to walk away from it now but have decided to move on to a different track car.

Asking Price: $69,000

This Exige has ~15,000 miles on the chassis and 500 miles on the engine and less than 100 on the transmission. Extensively and professionally built Exige with the highest quality parts available. The engine was built with Cosworth internals and was built to handle over 500hp.

Weighing in at ~2000 lbs and at ~370+ WHP (425+ crank HP). Brutally fast! The insanely responsive engine coupled with the huge torque you get from the turbo and close gear ratio from Quaife Sequential Gearbox and Quaife LSD is a unique experience.

Parts: The following list only includes price of all major installed parts. All parts receipts and work invoices included with sale of car. The prices below do not include charges for labor, shipping, fabrication, miscellaneous OE parts or tuning; all of which were also extensive in this build.

Not on that list are recently added:

Sequential Conversion:
- Quaife 6-Speed Sequential Gearbox
- Quaife shifter assembly and cable
- C60 Bellhousing / Assembly
- Quaife LSD
- Tilton Double Disc Clutch 7.25"
- AASCO Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel
- DRS Custom Wire Harness
- DRS Gear Shift Sensor
- DRS Billet Shift Knob
- Compressive Load Activated Strain Gauge
- Adapt GSS to X2 PnP ECU system
- Add Shift-Cut and Autoblip to ECU maps

Aero:
- APR Carbon Fiber Front Bumper Canards
- APR Carbon Fiber Side Rocker Extensions
- Carbon Fiber Access Panels

Interior:
- Nardi Personal Alcantera Steering Wheel
- Elise Parts Hub Adapter Kit
- NRG Gen 3.0 Quick Release Hub Kit
- New Alcantera Headliner

Bullet-Proofing:
- Braided Oil Lines w/ AN Fittings
- Custom Made Turbo Heat Shield

....reserved for more info going through shop invoices to cover all the parts I had fabbed/ installed.

Dyno Info from Previous Owner:

Quote:
Dyno: was done on a very hot day on crappy Cali 91 octane gas, so this is the minimum power you can expect; dyno plot shown was smoothed to look pretty, original available on request. ~13.5 psi!

Here is the history from the previous owner:

Quote:
History: I bought the car back in 09/2011 with ~8500 miles. It was originally from Texas and very well cared for. I drove the car a bunch on the street for the first year then gradually started modding it for track use. After about 25 open lapping / time trial track days, 3rd gear failed (common in these cars). I decided to swap in the much sturdier E153 (Toyota MR2 5-speed) with close ratio gears after. After 2 track days with the new transmission, the top end engine internals failed. That's when I took it to DRS and the build really took off.

Decided to do a complete engine rebuild with a custom turbo setup using the Radium turbo kit exhaust manifold + brackets. Initially was fitted with a larger GTX2863R and made ~500 HP but later swapped for a much quicker spooling and more manageable GTX2860R. The previous, larger turbo is included with the car if you'd like more power. These are both the latest billet wheel quick spool turbos from Garrett. With the super close ratio bulletproof E153 trans, you can keep the car constantly on boost.

You're basically getting a freshly completed build. I was out of the country for most of 2013 while the car was being built. I dropped it off 10/2012 and picked it up 09/2013. Only drove it for 3 track days and ~300 miles on the street. Earlier this year, I was planning on installing a cage, gutting it and using it mainly for NASA TT. As it sits, you can continue using it on the street/track or do a bit more work and have an awesome race car.

Drivetrain work done by Kris @ DRS in California (Motorsport Components and Expert Service). One of the best Lotus race shops in the US and consistently dominant in the Lotus Cup series. I'm sure anyone in the Lotus racing community can vouch for the quality of his work. Kris has always been very helpful in providing advice and support for this car.

Other remarks: Car is mechanically in perfect shape. No accidents. Runs and shifts much smoother than stock. This car has amazing cooling capability; coolant/oil temps are rock solid and intake temps never climb 15 degrees F higher than ambient. Interior is clean, simple and free of defects. Stock center console is included. Rear clam can be lifted off in 10 minutes. Trunk is gone and rear center panel on rear clam is cut out for weight savings / extra cooling. No HVAC, radio, or trunk. All lights functional. Airbags functional. EFI engine management system has two maps (91 and 100 octane) available, switchable on the fly. Nearly infinitely customizable engine parameters with this system. Advanced traction control and engine protection systems enabled. Car never has problems putting down the power, even on street tires. 35% tint on side windows. Custom built catless dual muffler exhaust. 3 sets of keys included. Note: the EFI ECU does cause the car to idle high at times when stopped, blipping the throttle settles the idle back down.

Blems: Rock chips on front of car, scratch on bottom of driver side skirt, front driver marker light missing, crack in driver front wheel arch.

Parts included but not in photos: HVAC system. Extra set of rear Pagid RS14 Black pads. Set of wheel Spacers to run 15"/16". Extra set of 325/425 Eibach springs. 8 quarts of Motul 300V 5W40 racing engine oil.
$69,000 takes it, if there is anything I missed or to request additional photos, videos, info please feel free to post here or PM me.

Since I have had the car I have done about 5 track days with probably less than two dozen laps each day. I participate in HDPE events, I never pushed the car past its limits, I only spun/ went "off" once , I did not attack curbs with it. This car has always been well maintained and taken care of and is in fairly good cosmetic order. From the one "off" there is a missing driver front sidemarker and small crack in the driver front wheel arch from a low speed brush with a plastic barrier (I have a video of the event if an interested buyer wants to see it)

These photos are from last month's NASA HDPE event and show the car with the areo bits installed that the other photos do not show. You can also notice the missing sidemarker.

Here is a video of the sequential gearbox operation (this was my first time ever driving the car with the new gearbox).

God I love this car! I noticed on the previous owners sheet it was speced with a GTX2867, however you say it was a GTX2863 then you changed to a GTX2860. I'm guessing it's either the 2863 or 2860 that is has now?

Good luck with the sale dude I would buy it in a heart beat if I was in the US

Right now its the Garrett GTX2860R, this setup seems to the be the best. The GTX2867 made lots of power but it was too just too big.

Hello sorry for not getting back to you sooner, did not see your question.

According to Kris at DRS the frequency of gearbox service will depend greatly on the driver and use of the car.

If you change the fluid frequently you should see reliability and use between services similar to the factory setup.

Here is a video (sorry about the quality) of me driving this car at COTA last year in a HDPE session during the Lotus Cup weekend.

Just to be clear I am a novice driver at best, most the other Elises/ Exiges on the track are modified and some have better drivers than myself. Yet ,as you can see, this Exige makes its way through the field of cars pretty effortlessly.

Imagine what this car is capable of in the hands of an experienced driver

Garage
Corbeau LE-X. Sector111 has them. They fit perfectly, but do not work with standard 3 point belts, if that matters to you. They make getting in and out a little tougher, but the seats hold you better.
