I had two car-related experiences there.
#1 - I had a 2002 Acura RSX-S and They only wanted to give me something like 14,200 for it. I declined and sold it about a month later for 15,500 to a private party. #2 - I bought a 2000 Subaru Outback (from a Buick dealer) in December. I drove the hell out of it, blew the head gasket (I think - it was overheating and losing oil but not TOO badly), I also cracked the windshield on a jump on some farmland doing about 65 mph haahh... I took it to a car dealer In about April to try to trade it in on a new car and they offered about 6,500. I took it down the street to Carmax and they offered me 8,500. I took that and ran for the hills. I only paid 9,500 for the car and that was before the broken windshield and possibly bad head gasket (not to mention about 5,000 miles and 4 months of basically rally car rampaging). Overall, I think Carmax can be a good option both as a buyer or a seller. You just have to see what deals you can work. |
