Scott - From your avatar I would gather you are moving from a s2k to a Lotus? If so, it's the best move I ever made (car wise). The s2k feels floaty and disconnected from the road compared to the Lotus. Plus you don't have to wait for 6,000rpms to start accelerating!

SkyCop, I had the chance to look more closely at the pedal arms on an '08 car, and I must say, the difference is incredible. Why did Lotus making the change?

You make an astounding case for the '05s.

Is there not a way to swap pedal sets?

Shorty,

The reason for the change, of course, is only so the 2005 model year will always remain the rarest and most desirable U.S. version of the Elise. Also there is no way to convert back as the setup is so different. OK maybe I embellished a little on that first sentence but there is truly no way to convert. The real reason for the change was because they went to a "Drive By Wire" throttle setup and totally changed the pedal box.

And I do agree looking at the DBW is an awful sight compared to the 05.

Sorry for the forced sale. I feel your pain...really I do. Had to sell mine last month due to economy and new job, and now I am a Lotus Talk lurker.

I also had a 05, which was the year I really wanted, for your reasons listed

Well I thought she was sold to someone but they did not secure the financing........so it's back on the market.....(not that it was ever off!)

I know it's just another cheap bump but that is all I have to offer at this time.

I just finished reading this whole thread and it makes me sad...if you love your elise that much don't sell it! Maybe it hasn't sold yet for a reason! I bought my 05 about 6 months ago and I hope I never have to sell it. These cars are amazing automobiles.

I am curious; how do I go about getting the fog lights installed and the leather center console with the beige shifter boot and handbrake cover?

Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I would really love to keep her but it's just not in the cards right now. It was the plan to never sell but sometimes the future changes and unexpected things pop up. Enjoy every minute with your car and yes they are amazing for those of us who know what we appreciate.

Anyway as far as the driving lights and center console you can get them from the dealer. Lights should be in stock and the console can be custom ordered from Lotus in any color combo for only about $280 or so. Both are easy enough to install yourself or the dealer can do it for you.

Good luck with the sale! I think I've seen you on Valencia once or twice when I was headed back toward the I-19. I rarely take my Elise to work (it only has 12,500 miles ) so you probably didn't notice me waving.

As I learned many years ago from flying helicopters over the city anytime I would come home and my wife would say "Did you see me waving at you today?". The correct answer is always "of course I did, did you see me wave back?". But I must admit I did not see you wave and like you I don't drive it to work very much.

Update on the sale I have sold the lift to a friend and have a possible deposit on the car next week so wish me luck.....or not.....don't know if I should or , guess the majority wins!!

Pretty much have the car sold as I have a deposit en route. However they still have a car to sell and the deal won't be done until then. So if anyone wants a really nice Corvette let me know. In the meantime we agreed that my car will technically still be "for sale" until we complete the transaction and he will have the first right of refusal.

Sad day for me, but good day for him.

Guess I need to get out there and drive a bit until she goes!

Define "really nice Corvette", please! Price and location, if you have it.

I will try to get you the details on the car. It sounds like he has taken excellent care of the car and is willing to sell it fast so he can buy mine. I should be able to get some info tomorrow.

AZ is referring to my Corvette.
I'm soon to purchase his Elise, I hope and my Corvette has to go in order to complete the transaction.
If you're interested, I'll make you a steal of a deal.
Here she is.

Man that does look nice, wish I could trade you but I need the $$ at this point. What year/mileage mods etc. does your car have?

I am the third owner of this 1998 C5 Corvette. I Purchased the car 4 years ago this month with roughly 32,000 miles on her. The first two owners non-smokers and car has always been garaged and covered. This car has clean vehicle history with 0 accidents, NEVER WRECKED. I have babied this car and maintained it like a mother would a newborn child. Car is Torch red with original paint and clearcoat that easily passes for a brand new car and often mistaken for new by admirers. Car is soon to be 11 years old with only 56,100 miles on the odometer as she was mostly a garage queen and a weekend driver. Interior is flawless, even the OEM floormats have been covered by rubber mats to keep them NEW. Car has never been smoked or eaten in as this was a forbidden sin in such a pristine specimen. Oil changes EVERY 3000
miles, mobile1 full synthetic only.

Many extras included. Car was professionally tinted when I purchased it. The factory catback system was removed in favor of much higher quality Magnaflow exhaust system with x-pipe and billet exhaust plate specially designed for the C5 Corvette, which dramatically improved the look of the car and the note of the exhaust. Exhaust was professionally installed by Furtral
motorsports as well as the getrag 3.42 rear gear carrier which was upgraded from a 2.73 rear. She also sports Vararam true ram air induction, also specially designed for the C5 Corvette, professionally installed and riveted in properly by Thunder Racing. Also included are OEM Europeon flush mounted tail lights giving the car a unique appearance from the rear. Car is loaded with every available option offered in 1998, including Sport seats with hardly any wear and both passenger and drivers seats are fully electronically adjustable. Selective ride control which stiffens or softens the suspension also included in this package as well as traction control. Engine has absolutely NO modification and is completely STOCK in that regard. Car was run ONE TIME at state capitol dragway through ONE time trial just to see what it would do after the previous mentioned upgrades, other than that has been babied and
hardly driven during my ownership. Included is a cover designed for the C5 Corvette which snugs nicely over the car making all who see it aware of the beautiful machine that sits under it.

Worthy of mention - car has had body side moldings professionally removed for a much cleaner look. I still have the moldings which are very easily re-installed. Also needs 2 new tire pressure sensors on front wheels. I didn't bother with this because I find it a useless feature that no car should be plagued with.

All questions welcomed, and I do not mean to hijack this thread.
AZ has a need to sell his car and I have a need to purchase it.
Thus mine is for sale.

In all her glory.........
