There are other markings like that throughout - from what I am gathering, my car may be #1 for US (I know about the Sienfeld car but it came the same time -- I even have pic's of the two at port - and his has a much higher serial # - although I am learning the last 5 do not indicate sequence) But I am pretty confident it isn't #60. Maybe 60th hatch piece built? The Storm Titanium Sport 260 for sale in St. Louis doesn't have all the markings. Not a big deal - just adds character.

I just meant that maybe your car's VIN ended in "60." I think there are only going to be 50 units of the 260 made for 2010. Maybe "60" is short for 260?

I see - no it doesn't end in 60. But that 50 figure is for the US - I believe there are 40 planned for Europe - so far I don't see it. We are now into July and after the initial 3 that came, now finally months later we have some more but we are way short of the 50 right now. The other thing I am confused by is that 2010 Exige production has already began and (according to other threads and Lotus's own press release) are available in Europe. Well just have to wait and see if all 50 make it. Hopefully, with this economy, they will not just hang around like the Club Racers did - and there were only 20 of those (or 25?). Some of those are still unsold.

Dan...was in and out of your dealership this morning, left around 9 am, don't think you were there yet.

Took a look at the car (and the others on the lot/in the showroom). VERY nice indeed. Don't know what Lotus is thinking, though, with those graphics. Still and all, the car is something else.

Sector 111 and Prototype Composites sell theirs for $2800. Haven't seen the Sector one in person, but the PC is identical to the Lotus cup roof.

What would it end up costing to remove the decals? I know that some are under the starshield and it would have to be removed and replaced.

The decals that aren't under the Star Shield, I would remove @ no charge. If I did the same for the ones under the Star Shield, would you buy it??

The graphics can easily be removed with your fingernail and just peeling - they don't take much. The guy who bought the red 260 in Greenville SC (which is already for sale) took off the graphics from the door by himself.

But you are right, the decals above the front splitter and the mustache on the rear will require the star shield to be removed.

When or if that happens - the star shield really needs to be replaced - and even then, to maintain the star shield warranty, it needs to be Lotus branded star shield (with the watermark logo) otherwise you will not have the warranty. I had some places tell me they could heat it up, peel off the graphics and then reglue the original star shield back on. I checked around, and I don't know what they are thinking given the size of the area that needs to be peeled back, but that would not be good over the long term. Eventual removal would be an even bigger problem.

I have even heard some stories where large areas of paint came off when the star shield was removed - I understand that may not be normal or typical - but there are more than a few postings of that on here - and CO is not easy to match.

I decided to live with the graphics - I am not a big fan of them - but that is how it came. I am trying to convince myself it is like removing the stripes off a classic Cuda, Camaro, or other collectible car with crazy graphics.

Thats why you get it done before delivery ... If it gets messed up at the dealer then its not yours yet.

That is absolutely true - but at this point, no one is going to be able to order a 260. Production of 2010 has already begun.

It would work the same for the one that are still on the lot though. You could also pay a dealer to do now if you consider it would be worth the cost of the new starshield. Either way your not liable.

If you wanted it taken off, I would do that and replace the Star Shield for you.
