Thumbs up Black and silver wheel inserts

I'll have some black and silver wheel inserts for sale soon, I know alot of inserts are dif sizes but at the moment these will only be in 50mm and black and silver lotus logo...testing the water to see what the requirements are..if dif sizes are needed these may be possible it depends on how much interest.
Thanks all
Nick

I've been looking for black and sliver wheel center cap or inserts! 50mm is perfect. I'll take a set. Can you ship with my gauge bracket?

I'm interested. I don't know what size the 2005 touring pack (standard)wheels, but that is the size I would want. i might alos be interested in some additional emblems.

I think I want some too, these would replace the normal plastic lotus logo center caps, correct? I need them to fit the sport wheels as my standard wheel caps dont fit correctly.

picture tells a thousand words

Here you go ..these are a set of finished ones ....def cant source the dif plastic caps themselves so have to make do with your old ones.
Pics show a side view aswell to give the depth..should be approx 4.5mm ..if the interest is enough I'll do them otherwise just my set I guess. These will only be 50mm inserts, too much aggro to get all sizes done so you'll need to measure to make sure its the size you need.

Trickster................please.......you have to share.
I have a graphite grey and have replaced my lettering on the back and front badge w/ the Colin Chapman black & silver badges. Also have the valve caps to match those. Those would fit in perfecty.
Let me know.
Thanks, Dan

just curious

Years ago, at LOG 12, Miles Wilkins was the guest speaker at dinner. Miles knew and worked with Chapman, and is a licensed concessionaire for vintage Lotus in England, and wrote the definitive book on the Lotus Twin Cam engine.

He half-jokingly made the point that Lotus didn't earn any money selling cars, but paid its bills by suing those who were infringing on its copyrights by unauthorized use of logos, etc.

Just curious if the various Lotus logos, these wheel inserts, Sector 111's rear badge, and various t-shirts etc. are licensed by Lotus.

As far as I know Lotus will not license ANY thing that is made by another company or individual, other than stock items made for themselves. I approached Lotus with a request for these and explained I would like black and silver wheel inserts, so in order for some companies to make them , the said companies would like a letter or fax from Lotus ...I was told "we dont do that at all" ...there are a lot of companies out there that will make or copy the lotus logos or typeface or the word Lotus , some are decent and put a disclaimer on their website saying "they assume you have permission" some dont care and others blatantly copy with complete disregard to "copyright infringement"....I have enquired at approx 30 companies about having these made for me 75% declined for various reasons..they may not have the artwork needed, they may not do such a small order in their terms, they already make or have made in the past items for lotus and so under contract cannot produce anything for anyone else and a few other reasons...however there are a vast number of companies out there using the Lotus name or logo without fear it seems of Lotus sueing them...Whilst talking to Lotus they did add that they "tackle everyone that uses their logos eventually"...that said I'd like to see them tackle "everyone"..some companies being based in Brasil and China for example as I'm pretty certain that nothing would come of any civil action...as for myself, no real excuse ...I wanted black and silver simple..I already have my set so I can easily quit now....I would be more than happy to pay Lotus for using their logo but that wasnt offered as an option ...Id be more than happy to buy these from somewhere else (if they were made and good quality and not a piece of junk) also not an option ...that leaves me having them made ...whats a guy to do?....as for if Lotus were to say yes I can make them but insist on payment then as per just about everything else either sold by Lotus or manufactured by other companies for them it would be a complete rip off in price!...I drive a Lotus with a Rover engine ffs real simple and real cheap ...funny how it isnt like that tho ...just about everything on the (uk) car is sourced from other motor manufactures CHEAPLY...yet when I want something stock from Lotus it seems to cost the price as if produced by Ferrari...odd that....another option open to me I suppose is to have them made but charge a horrific price for them and put a cheque in the post to Lotus and say cheers, heres some money and see if they bank it...
Nick
ps just so you know my email might be english but thats forwarded to my email in brazil which then forwards it to my office base in China which sends the request for items to be made in Iran and I only answer legal letters if they are typed in triplicate in Sandskrit and hand delivered

Trickster,

I hope you understand I'm in no way being critical of what you're doing. I was just curious, with so many folks now putting out Lotus logo items as a cottage industry, if anyone had approached Lotus about the issue.

Thanks for the explanation. I applaud your attempt to play it by the numbers up front. The quantities you'll be creating should fly under Lotus' radar if they really do follow through w/copyright or trademark infringement.

Good luck, the Esprit I had came from the factory w/black badges and wheel inserts...they looked great.

No problem ..no offense or anything taken ...and yes it seems def a little industry popping up everywhere ...hopefully if I do a run it'll prob be like 25-30 sets so yes should avoid radar detection hopefully ...and you got the Esprit with black and black..very nice ...wish they had that on the elise as options
