Elise jack stands on sale
Just a heads up on some of the jack stands I'm using for the Elise. I have no affiliation with these guys.
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...3386_200313386 I paid the normal price and thought they were well worth it. $39.99 is an EXCELLENT price for these. They are beautiful as well as functional. |

+1 for good jackstands. My set came with a floorjack I bought at Pep Boys last year, both have worked well the few times I've had to raise the car.

I just bought some of these same jackstands locally from AutoZone sold under their DuraBuilt brand name for the same price ($39), they look like they will work well for the Elise.

I have four of them. I bought mine on sale at Pep Boys at about $45 a pair. They work very well. A hockey puck sits on the almost flat top very easily. I carved two grooves in the bottom of my hockey pucks to fit the small lips on the top of the jacks, and that makes them work even better. You can see my modified hockey puck in on the left in the photo:

Got mine at Pep Boys with the low jack for $100. Don't know how it works out pricewise, but they are nice little stands and the jack easily slides under low cars...very convenient how you can break them down and store in a drawer.

Speaking of these jacks (have them, they are great!), does anyone have a definitive location for where they should contact the frame? The manual is less than exact... anyone have a nice photo or diagram?
Thanks, Thomas

Just bought a pair myself at Pep Boys - any of you northeners care to sell me 4 hockey pucks? I can't seem to find any in Orlando - I went to 3 different sporting good stores and they look at me like I am an Alien and say they don't sell anything but street hockey Balls and Pucks! They practically grow on trees up north

<img src="http://www.elisetalk.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=1000&original=1" alt="Jacking Points" /> Lift only at the places marked in the diagram. The "A" and "B" points have blue stickers under the car to indicate the jack points. The "C" points are under (above?) the under-tray, which must be removed to access them. The "D" points are hidden by the diffuser that must be remove to get to them. The "C" points are not marked, but you place the jackstand along the back edge of the "perforated" shear panel, between the bolts. There is a "cross beam" located there that the shear panel is bolted to. ![]() Best way to jack the car is to back up on ramps and remove the under-tray (or just reach under the car to remove it if you can). Then with the car back on the ground, jack one side up using a jack at the "A" point. Place jackstands at the "B" and "C" locations. Then repeat for the other side. I actually do it in stages (lowest setting on the first side, then working height on the other, followed by working height on the first) since I had the jack slip out from under the car when jacking it high enough to slip the RhinoRamp under the rear tire (others have had no problem doing this). I also use a rubber jack saddle that I bought from Harbor Freight ($10) to cushion the lift point on my floor jack - it fits most any jack. The top looks like this: ![]() The bottom has a "peg" that fits into where the normal jack saddle is would be placed: This thread has some info on jacking the Elise: http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11308 , as do a couple of other threads on the forum.

I bought a bag of regular hockey pucks at my local Sports Authority. I also got two "soft" foam rubber pucks - I think the hard rubber ones are the ones that should be used.

I bought a dozen souvenier hockey pucks off ebay for about $16 including shipping. They are official hard pucks, but with a sticker on them. The sticker comes off after you use them on a jack stand a few times.
