6000k is White with a hint of blue - Most Popular Color
8000k is Sky Blue - Light Blue
10000k is Dark Blue - Most likely will get you pulled over by the cops

The higher you get in color, the more blue you get and the less usable light it gives off.

4500k is 3x brighter than stock headlights
5000k is about 2.8x brighter than stock
6000k is about 2.6x brighter than stock
etc.

Those are Wavelengths that create the color. As you decrease white light and increase blue light (going from 4500k to 10,000k), you shorten the wavelength, therefore decreasing the amount of visable light.

Since I am local in San Diego, he can install these on my cars, I can try them out, and give my objective feedback to the forum for other out of state purchasers buying from a new vendor.

I met the guy, and he is cool, and is a friend of John's (who I consider a great friend), but I haven't seen the products, so will hold my opinions till I get it done.

According to post #9, 4500 is the whitest and therefore the most light. Don't ask me why though?

Ok stupid question here, aren't the goal of HID lights to be more efficient to see at night? So why change to 6000K if 4500k is best?

Stupid question #2, is this just for looks or is it an improvement over oem lights?

Does DDM make a 55w?
Is the ballast case plastic or metal or both?
What does it weigh (the ballast w/ ignitor)?

Since the stock Elise lights aren't that good, and my experience in other cars with HID that these are superior, I'm pretty convinced that it will be a big improvement.
I suppose anybody who was HID's on his Elise can chime in what his experience is.

I would think so too, but it doesn't. Don't ask me why, I have no idea...

Also, 3000k is yellow, and having yellow headlights WILL DEFINITELY get you pulled over.

6000k is only slightly less efficient than 4500k and gives you the slight blue tint like BMWs have.

Answer to question 2 - These HID kits are about 3x as bright as stock headlights. Choose the 55w option, and they are about 6x as bright.

Yes, 55w is available. The option is now on the website orderform.

Ballast case is metal and is sealed from the elements (waterproof, but don't submurge it while running).

The ballast and ignitor weighs under 1lb

It will be like night and day. It is hard to capture it in pictures, but this is a stock headlights vs a 4500k HID kit. Going down the road, you will see MUCH more and people will be a LOT more likely to see you.

Has anyone from the previous group buy posted a review of this kit?

6000k is the color (5000, 6000, 4500, etc)

55w is the wattage. You can choose a 35w kit that is 3x as bright as stock, or a 55w kit that is 6x as bright as stock.

There are laws stating the color of lights that can be on your vehicle. Maybe not in all states, but definitely in CA.
