So, FINALLY got these little guys installed today. A few install notes and comments:
First, beware the torque specs posted on the website. They may be spot-on, I don't know. But I do know that I've almost stripped the top bolt of the front mount following those specs. It may be gone, but I could get it to lock up but not torque down. So I left it as tight as possible. After that I used my regular ratchet and common sense and was able to get everything else tightened down very well. Maybe that bolt was stripped from the factory and I'm beating myself up over it? I dunno...but the posted specs might be a bit risky. They are close...I would drop 5-8 ft lbs off each one, and then check for bolt backout, like I will be doing. Don't use a torque wrench. It's too risky in these tight areas. Not enough room to turn the wrench to get an accurate read. Second, I found that I could use my 3" ext for most of the bolts. Only the driver-side front bolt on the rear mount required a u-joint on the ratchet to work around all the stuffs. Though deep sockets did come in handy for the front mount for finger threading the bolts down. Aligning the bolts for the front mount as was a PAIN. Take your time. Next, when doing the rear mount, notice the job is easier if you reinstall the long bolt last. Bring a mallet. Once the inserts are in the mount doesn't slippety-slide in and out like it did before. Might take some good forceful taps. The mallet comes in handy when installing the inserts into the mounts as well. My front mount was easy..they just slipped on in..snuggly, but nicely. The rear inserts just about had to be beat into the mount. My rear mount was odd I think. It was like the holes had not been completed shaped out or something. There was even a thin layer of the compound left covering the holes that I had to poke through and tear out. I did find that using my lighter to melt away the little remnants helped to make the insert fit much more easily. Still needed a few whacks from the mallet though to get them seated. My 07 has a heat-shieldish looking metal item that covers the rear mount. Yours may too. If so, you need to remove it of course to get to the bolts. It is held on with two 8mm bolts, one on the driver side facing rearward and one on the passenger side facing upward. It kind of rolls out around the frame and exhaust. After a very brief test drive, using my own scale I'd have to rate the cabin vibration as a 4, with the understanding that the car was probably a 2-3 to begin with. Everyone's comments are spot-on...The additional in-cabin vibration is minimal. Shift feel is unreal. All in all a smooth install. Final verdict: Great item. Definitely high bang for the buck here.

Finally got around to installing them today. Everything is nice and tight the way it should have been from the factory. The fit of them to the stock mounts is perfection. Feels like a whole new car and I absolutely love them. Thanks for making these.

i found that a bit of silicone spray allowed the inserts to easily seat.
my butt dyno says the car seems a bit stiffer, albeit with a litle more vibration. for the same reason others might put a muffler on for more noise, the mounts seem to suit my idea of how a car of this type should feel. the nice thing is that it's completely reversable, too. i like the new mounts. sam |

I hope these inserts are still available. Just sent payment a few minutes ago. These look like a good upgrade to accompany the new BWR supercharger kit install.

I finally installed these today. Suddenly there are like 5 new rattles in my car (especially when taking off from a stop) but the throttle response and shifting improvement more then make up for it. for a great product

Yeah, it took me a long time to install the front mount as well.... It was tricky getting the bolts back on there. I too stripped the bolt a little, but everything went back in correctly.

Review
I had my first track event last weekend with these mounts installed and I was pretty happy with the results. Heel & toe downshifts were a little smoother in terms of not upsetting the chassis. That was the thing I was hoping for, and I think this product delivered. Not that the downshifts before were bad, but I noticed an incremental improvement none the less. I decided to pull the trigger on these because my front mount bolts had totally backed out and went bye-bye, so I had to make that repair anyway.
My shop did the install and they also noticed that the rear inserts required some finessing to fit, so I think they ended up trimming them a touch. Not a big deal in terms of time. |

Not really enough evidence for it yet, but I wonder if some of these mount bolts are over-torqued at the factory.
I checked all my engine mount bolts this past weekend after putting on a couple hundred miles since the insert install. Everything is solid. If/when I do a clutch install I'll probably helicoil the one that stripped a bit, just for piece of mind. But for now it's staying torqued. And I am still very much enjoying the inserts. I've considered going back and forth to see which I really prefer, but I have to say the car just feels so much more solid over the long run that removing them would seem like taking something critical away, like the mounts should have been filled all along.

It's an extremely tight/precise fit but it gives you a nice satisfying "pop" when they go in with some lube on them (that sounds really wrong )

I installed my set of inserts today. A few notes:
Reinstalling the front mount was a pain! Getting the two top bolts to line up took me a solid 30 minutes. Overall installation time was around 90 minutes. Cabin vibrations are definitely more pronounced at low RPM. No change above 2k RPM. I didn't notice at new rattles. In fact, I used to have a really nasty rattle at 3k RPM that appears to be gone now! Shifting is noticeably improved. Overall, A+

A review of the product. Warning I have a very numb butt dyno, so take that in consideration. If you have all your tools ready, you should be able to do this in 90 minutes. I however broke my glasses midway, was hunting for my torque wrench for probably an hour, so with those two, it took me almost 3 hours... granted fixing my glasses took me 1/2 hour. So this should be a pretty easy job. Damn getting old sucks.
First impressions, starting it up, it seems the same, at idle it seems the same, but between 1000-1500 after the car is warmed up, it'd definitely more rumbly. Chassis shakes more, feels like I have a big exhaust in the car. This is stock and a 08 S240 by the way. On and off throttles are a bit crisper, overall, a good buy for the price. Good job Manly. |

Installed, probably took 3 hours as I didn't turn the air compressor on to get the panels on/off.
Had a little trouble getting to some of the bolts but got some help and it went smooth. It does vibrate a little more at idle but I don't mind it at all. The thing I notice the most is moving from a stand still. Seems like the engine is dying [vibrating lots] everytime I start moving. Encourages me to give it more gas = harder on clutch
