My catch can install from the top, notice the new hose inlet angles:

And since there isn't much slack in the hoses to allow for motor movement, I added a vibration isolator, McMaster-Carr 96905K38:

It's female on top, male below, 5/16-18 threaded. The catch cans can move a little now without, for example, cracking the clam where the screw attaches.

fpitas, very nice. The new angle seems to work nicely.

Could you show precisely where the vibration isolators went? Thanks.

Installs look great! I just drained mine. Only about a 1/2 oz came out - I've been traveling and haven't been driving much. Best to drain right after driving when the cans are warm.

Yep, that's it, thanks. That isolator is not specified for tension loads, only compressive or shear, but since the catch cans only weigh a pound or so I think it will work indefinitely.

Watch out for the petcocks rubbing on any hoses below -- those cans are long.

There's plenty of vertical room in that location, but there is some interference with the water bypass hose off the back of the engine. I haven't figured out how I'm going to fix that, maybe cut back the hard line from the engine so there's more clearance for the rubber hose.

Quick question... I've seen 2 types of catch cans... sealed, and vented?

Are both compatible with our applications (NA and S/C?)

If I understand things correctly (that is a big IF) the catch can that is vented through a filter and not into the intake may be violating various state emissions laws.

Still got my Saikou cans, too.

And on the subject of vented vs. unvented cans...yeah, the vented most likely are an emissions violation. In any event, I prefer the unvented because the connection at the throttle body has a small amount of negative pressure (suction), which will help remove vapors from the crankcase and keep the oil cleaner. Obviously if you vent it there is no negative pressure.

Adding an aftermarket air intake is also violating various emissions laws.....

Yeah... I need these as well.

Thanks for the pic Jack. Did you have to do any special mods? Can you get to the petcocks easily?

For those financially challenged due to recent market turmoil, $15 catch can solution
