2/4/06 - Lotus tech day at SVAG (Northern CA)

Silicon Valley Auto Group has been wanting to host another Lotus Tech Day at their shop, and with the upcoming Golden Gate Lotus Club track day at Laguna Seca (Feb 20th), we all thought that now would be the perfect time! SVAG will be offering free track/safety inspections for any Lotus that shows up that day (time permitting...probably no more than 15-20), and will also be providing us with lunch.

For those of you who don't need a track/safety inspection, this would be a good chance to meet the people at SVAG and check out their shop; it's also a good opportunity to take a close look at Lotuses from underneath and ask their technicians all those oddball questions, like what's that split loom hose hanging loose near the driver's front wheel (A/C evap drip line, I believe!)? Last time, they had various Elise parts laying around for us to get a closer look at, like an unpainted front clamshell, some exhausts, car covers, etc.

SVAG will also be offering a 10% discount on Lotus merchandise that day.

Afterwards, weather permitting, we'll take a medium length drive through the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains.

Date: Saturday, February 4
Time: 9:00AM-1:00PM - tech event at SVAG
1:00-3:00PM (estimated) - drive
Location:
Silicon Valley Auto Group, service department
1436 White Oaks Road (note, this is a different address than their showroom)
Campbell, CA

All Lotuses are welcome, not just Elises!

If you plan on attending, please RSVP to this thread or email me so we can get a rough headcount for lunch.

The first one was fun. I'm in, put me down for a track/safety inspection.

Don't remind me. I "won" the prize. If my car had show up 3-4 weeks earlier, could have made use of it.

that's funny, because I "won" it too! I had my car but couldn't justfiy spending the cash at the time.

so the prize must have been offered to all that had an elise at the time and nobody wanted/needed it at the time and it was never installed (recapping for those that weren't around for the 1st Tech Day).

seeya there

I'll try to be there for both. I just picked up my 2nd Elise last Weds.put on700 miles drivingup from SB Lotus. Ran the Sunday run. So now, I'm having my '2nd' 1000 mile check up with SVAG's Terry on Wednesday Jan 18th. Maybe he'll divulge the secrets of a hoped for "2 hour retrofit front clam impact bumper ". That way I might avoid Elise numero tres.
Matt, thanks for setting up the day. I had a great time at last Sunday's ride in the East Bay and hope or more on the 4th. My baby brother ( 4 inches taller, 4 lbs "stronger") Brad and his 69 Elan might show up also. Anyone arranging a February meet? (this is getting habit forming)

Another thing SVAG might do that do is the safety recall regarding the airbags for Elises - it involves adding a sheet of paper to the manual with some nice legalese saying if you use the Elise in very cold weather (-15C, I think), the airbags may not work properly. Not a big deal, but a good thing to get out of the way!

Hmm... How about doing shifter recall as well?
I'd come either way.

A shifter exchange would be the bomb. SVAG could do them in mass, lowering their costs while collecting the same reimbursment from Lotus for the work.

I probably will, depending upon weather and what time I'd have to get out of bed that morning

Alexander, I posted on BAUTOX.com and asked for a sponsor to run on the 5th. Hope to see you there. What class and what time are you assigned?
Thanks, Duane

Some of my MR2 friends and I are planning on doing a run around there, same day. Hopefully, we'll come across each other during the course of the day!
