2008 San Francisco Auto Show

San Francisco International Auto Show

Anyone else attending? I wish I could hit the real show in LA, but I'll have to make do with the SF version. I'm planning on going Monday to avoid the weekend crowd.

Nope. Too many times I've gone and returned home VERY disappointed. Best year in recent times was 2005 when BMC had a nice display of the Elise and the GGLC was invited to showcase some classic Lotus cars.

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

I've been there and done it too many times and once you work on the other side of the rope you get burnt out and feel sorry for others who are stuck there working 12 hour shifts for free.

Is your current employer doing a display?

And ya, I can see how that would be ultra boring. You just have to beat the kids who get too close to the nice cars with a stick and its all good.

Think that is bad, try having supported and vote YES on Prop 8. Not only did all of my signs get ripped off 3 times, nasty notes on my car, etc. Now there is a 'hit list' for which if you contributed to Prop 8 they are going after your employer with nasty notes that you support and contributed to Prop 8, I know this first had as my employer has gotten a note.

Luckily for me, the CEO found this very offensive to attempt to use thugery to get someone fired and that is exactly what the note said, they will boycot any product used by our company until/unless I am fired!

What a country this is becoming!

Not that I know of. We don't have a new product just yet. I think we're hoping to be at Geneva, but we'll see.

I'm actually not surprised. Some of my co-workers saw your thread supporting Prop 8 and removed your resume from consideration. Companies are not allowed to discriminate against people regardless of sex, orientation, gender, race, etc. We are all human and should have equal rights. If you share something like that so openly you also open yourself up to those types of reactions. I don't know how you got onto this topic in this thread, but thought I'd comment.

Now that's short sighted and really ashamed, those who did that should be really ashamed of themselves. One should have the freedom in this country to express one's views and not be punished because of it. I stand by my principals and morales, nothing will shake that. As a country, we are heading down a very slippery road when one expresses their views and is punished for it. I'm glad they removed me from consideration, I would hate to work for a company that would not allow me to express my own opinion. Needless to say, even if I had the money I'd now never purchase from Tesla.

Isn't that a similar thing then? I know it is not the same, but close..no? Someone does not want to hire you because of your attitude (note, not your race or religion or age). You don't want to deal with the company because of their attitude.

Whom to do business with is a choice, not an active attempt at getting someone fired for supporting something. Or, in the quote by TripleXXX blantantly discriminating against someone for their speach, which according to TripleXXX is exactly what her company did against me in removing me from consideration for employement based upon the fact that I voiced support for something.

What might be closer would be an attempt to run a company out of business based upon their political/corporate views on something. As we all know, this happens all the time with Auto, Oil, whatever evil company is making a boat load of money or viewed as politically insensitive towards something.

Sorry to get way off subject here, I'll stop here so that I do not hijack this thread, maybe another needs to be started somewhere else to discuss this. I was simply responding to someone in agreement that it is not popular to take an opposing view and the intollerance for taking that view is going down a very negative path for America when one cannot freely voice their opinion without being shut down or see people attempt to ruin your career because of it. Can we say People's Repulic of California! ;-)

I have no need for carpool lanes.

On a side note (since this thread is wandering more than a homeless dog) they are now considering "hot lanes" where you can buy into the Carpool lane. I guess money does buy happiness.

Cool pics. I made the bad mistake of going on Sunday. Was so crowded I couldn't even look closely at a vehicle before I had a swarm of people pawing every inch of it. I was so disturbed by the fiasco I left early.
