Alpine Motorsports Tour (NE Pennsylvania) 8/5/06

Club111 is proud to announce an exclusive tour for Elisetalkers and Club111 members of the new "members only" Alpine Signature Motorsports Facility in Northeastern Pennsylvania, tenitively scheduled for August 5th. the facility is located 1 hour away from Philadelphia and New York. Our hosts will be serving us lunch during our stay. Please RSVP to Peck555 or to me so we can give them a head count no later than 7/24.

THIS IS NOT A TRACK EVENT!!!!!

More info on the facility can be found here:

http://www.alpinesignature.com

Here's a description from their web site:

"The Alpine Motorsports Club offers four miles of uncompromised driving freedom. The Club is also a very special place in the country for those who can truly appreciate the joys and rewards of owning and driving high performance automobiles.

An Alpine Motorsports Club Membership is a declaration of driving independence…and a commitment to optimizing every aspect of one’s car ownership and driving experience.

The Club is, in part, a European-inspired road course…an amenity-rich private club…and a refreshing nature retreat. And for our regional members, it's only a two-hour drive (or less) from your garage.

Nestled in the foothills of the Poconos, the Club’s 360 acres of trees, streams, ponds and manicured grounds provide a spectacular backdrop for over four miles of adrenalin-spiking chicanes, blistering straightaways and high speed sweepers.

Membership privileges bring up to 260 days of annual Road Course access…virtually unlimited driving time…a relationship with an exclusive community of driving enthusiasts...and it's all supported by an inspired team of technical, safety and coaching professionals.

Alpine is dedicated exclusively for the enjoyment of its members and guests. The Club provides a super-blend of location, topography and scenic beauty, resulting in almost limitless driving challenges, regardless of one’s experience, choice of equipment, or current level of expertise.

“An Ever-Challenging Fast Drive in the Country”

Set deep among towering forests below the steep slopes of the Blue Mountains in Eastern Pennsylvania, the Alpine Motorsports Club offers the ambiance of the Austrian Tyrol, the atmosphere of a traditional European road-course, and the challenge of a mountain pass in a magnificent and breathtaking setting. The Alpine facility is located just a short drive from the bustling urban centers of New York, Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania, and Northern New Jersey.

Designed by world-renowned track designer and safety expert Alan Wilson, this private motorsports resort features a road-course that is truly unique in North America and the world. The Club's challenging road-course climbs & twists over 220 feet along the lower plateaus of a lofty mountain range, before plunging like an Alpine pass back down to the Clubhouse, activities center, and Paddock areas.

The Club's facilities are designed to bring the most enjoyment to your day, whether you’re driving or not.

Here's a bump for this thread.

I've confirmed August 5th for our visit. Lunch will be served. We will be given a presentation by the track and then wisked away by 4wd for a track tour. This is a unique and special opportunity for Lotus owners. The Elise and Exige shine their brightest on the track and here's a new facility with all the bells and wistles that we can take advantage of over 200 days a year! My wife even wants to join. I think she likes the idea of taking her Exige to the track and blowing off steam whenever I get to be too much for her.

"The primary road course features 14 turns, while the total layout has nine versatile configurations. The 40-ft. wide road is wider than a three-lane interstate, with no visual or physical obstructions, 220 ft. of elevation change on three distinct plateaus (a throwback to European roads), and safety designs based on F1 specifications."

I figured after our tour, we could take advantage of some of the local roads. PM me or Peck555 with your RSVP.

More information on the track can be found at:

I know......... You're just terrorizing me because I moved out of Allentown 8 years ago ( after living there for 30 years ) and now live in the flatlands of Michigan... only figures that they would build a great place like this AFTER I leave !!

Cost for our visit is free. I think the fee for membership, including all track time and storage facilities is like 3-4k annually.

Yep! my best buddy from Haverford...

gave them 4K a year ago and took a tour 2 weeks ago and was very impressed. Apparently their financing about 16mill as I recall came through several months ago and constuction is going full bore. A perfect location for you guys if I still lived "back east" I'd join in a second. Enjoy your tour- sounds like you will make a mini-holiday of it. Pip

I wouldn't mind the tour. Looking at the map it looks to be about 4-5 hours for us. About the same to VIR. But wouldn't you know, we have a wedding the same day.

Is the only requirement to join you guys on 8/5, Elisetalk membership? I am not an owner but a huge fan and that is why I take part in this forum. I do share a basic drivetrain layout and engine.

If noone has a problem with a non owner attending I would love to take the tour!

Yea, there's this paddle thing and then we make you go streaking thru central park. No big deal.

There is no requirement to join Club111 to come to the event. Other events have membership as a mandatory prerequisite. If you have questions about Club111 I would recommend you visit our website at www.club111.net (not ".com" that's our sister club in France )

I would suggest that before you join, you come to an event.

I am interested in going. Its not too far of a drive for me... I have questions about their membership too but I can save those for them (like will they offer or arrange trackday insurance to members). The facility is tempting. $3-4k/yr is not bad if it includes a lot of track time and you really make use of the facility. I'd rather join that then spend a couple grand on renting a shorehouse

You are thinking along the same lines as my wife. She likes the idea of just going up there on a whim to run for a few hours.

Please arrive at 11:00 to begin our tour. We will be given a presentation followed by Lunch and then, in small groups, be taken out on the track! Expect to spend a total of 3-3.5 hours. I've begun to hear from some of you and we have a nice group forming. Don't forget to RSVP to me so they have a head count for Lunch and the track groups.

Small??? The way I read it, you first pay a $3000 "reservation" fee, then when you're accepted you need to pay a $30,000 "deposit", and then annual dues are $4,000. After 10 years you receive 75% of your $30k deposit back (assuming they're still in business).
