Elkhart Lake WI July 16 - 18

Just decided to go to this event but it seems like all good places to stay is already taken

Does anyone have any recommendations? Would not mind renting a house but a resort would be my preference.

It's often deadly hot that time of year, but I'm curious, what's going on?

Road America | Road Racing at its Best! | Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by FORD
It's cool to just go there for Friday even if you don't go to the race track. Most of the cool cars parade through town.

I am kinda over the camping thing for the rest of my life, did 105 nights in a tent one year, but that was in the army.

Last time I sleept in a tent was last saturday because my 7 year old wanted to. The tent was inside my livingroom

Most everything within 75 miles is booked a year in advance for the BRIC. Drive a little and save a lot! Milwaukee isn't too far of a drive to Elkhart.

We're planning to go but we're close enough to just day-trip it. (2 hours away).

If you find a reasonable hotel in Appleton, Oshkosh, or Fon Du Lac, the drive is less than an hour through some beautiful rolling countryside... a great way to start and finish the day.

You might look up some of the smaller towns and see what they have available. I'll bet most people only consider the bigger places.

Nothing in Plymouth. I'll be at the Baymont in Sheboygan Falls. This should be a great event. Featured marque will be 3.0 litre turbocharged F1 cars! My son and I will be there Sat. and Sunday.
PS: make your reservations for ALMS while your at it, as hotels book for that one fast too.

You can stay in PT Washington (35mi) or the northern suburbs of Mil (50mi) I.E. Mequon. I lived there before Santa Barbara it was 50minutes to the track. If you have something fun to drive take the Kettle Moraine scenic drive its 70miles of great roads. I go back for the event every year. Friday is a good day at the track you get to walk around and talk to the drivers. have fun carl

While in Elkhart Lake, I highly reccomend dinner at the Paddock Club. It's on Lake Street, about a block up from Siebkens, on the other side of the street. It's one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. We're having dinner there twice next weekend while we're in town. We're staying at the Osthoff -- a bit easier getting a room for a non-race weekend. Wanted to check out the new Siebkens condos, but they didn't have anything facing the lake, and I want to be able to sit out on my porch and watch the fireworks.
