Lotuses can get a free track/safety inspection on 2/4 to get ya ready for this event, see this thread for more details. Checking the car two weeks ahead of time will give you time to *fix* any problems that are found!

It's about 60 feet, between turn 5 & 6. Last time I was there (late Nov) a driver with a stage 2 exhaust was black flagged for being 1 db over(92db limit). Went out again for a clean measurement and was ok. With stock exhaust and open intake, am fine. Was hoping they could get away with the 96db limit... makes it easy for the aftermarket exhaust folks.

if you are only 1db over, make T5, move left after track out, even throttle up the hill, as soon as you pass the sound station (1/2 way b/n T5 and 6) gun it, you will be fine.
i was at 98db (another car).... hopeless. |

I've even seen some punch holes in the end of tin can and the wire it over the tail pipe! I'm not suggesting that someone does that, but it was one solution I've seen! Kiyoshi

Registration Is Now Open!
GGLC 2006 Track Day #1 - Feb 20, 2006 - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Chair: John Zender & Scott Hogben Entry Fee: $195 for GGLC Members and $210 for non-members. Registration closed on Feb 19 or when there are 75 entrants (which ever comes first). Come join the Golden Gate Lotus Club for this open track event at Laguna Seca Raceway February 20, 2006. You do not need to own a Lotus to attend this event. GGLC events are non-profit, you will not find a better price for a full day on Laguna. This event will be limited to 3 groups of 25 cars (total 75). Two groups (50 cars total) will be with open passing. One group (25 cars) will be with restricted passing. Laguna Seca enforces a strict sound limit of 92 db. This event will run rain or shine. There will be no money back cancellations after 2/10/06. Cars will be subject to a Self-tech inspection. You are soley responsible for the safety of your car. Some experienced drivers will be available to help the inexperienced ones. Although informal coaching will be offered, this is not a driving school and it’s up to the individual drivers to request assistance. First timers will be required to drive the first session with an instructor or experienced driver in the passenger seat. The GGLC recommends attending a driving school, GGLC open track events should not be considered a substitute for professional instruction. Open top cars must have a roll bar. Factory installed roll bars are OK. Open wheeled cars will be allowed in the open passing group. For more info and to register go to: http://www.gglotus.org/trkdays/ggtrkday.htm See you at Laguna! I'm in!
Where are y'all parking for the night before? Now, to get this shifter replaced before the drive up... And how accurate is the Forza Motorsport representation of Laguna Seca anyway.. I'll take practice wherever I can find it.

I was there on the 1st and 2nd of this month. The car registered a 95db with the arquay twin muffler. I resorted to short shifting and climbing the hill in 4th
My turndowns arrived and I hope they will be worth the 3db I need when I go back on the 30th.

Just to clarify, this event will be under a 92dB limit.
As of this time there are only 5 slots left (restricted passing group is full). Once all the slots are full a wait list will be started. Kiyoshi GGLC Webguy

A very fun day! The weather was near perfect, early spring-like. There were over 35 Lotus, from Sevens, to an Elan, a couple Europas and Esprits, an M100 Elan and countless Elises.
Unfortunately the day wasn't incident free. A Vette driver lost it on the front straight and slammed into the wall. The good news, the driver was fine and walked away, but the same can't be said for the car. There were a couple of spins, thankfully without hitting anything. One thing about Laguna, there's a lot of walls everywhere, all hard and unforgiving. The good news is that most had a great time! Cheers, Kiyoshi

We had numerous passes under yellow without point by in the restricted group. We had people in big hp cars refusing to lift to let cars by. This let to passes that were less safe than they should have been. Worse no action was taken to resolve the problem so it continued all day. I saw a few near car on car collisions. Twice because someone in the restricted group got passed without knowing there was a car behind them. They were tracking out and the passing car missed them by less than 3 ft. I know the GGLC is a proud club but I would beg them to start taking track days seriously before someone gets hurt. Did anyone see the end result of the Elise that went into the wall in 4? I will not be going back any time soon. There are too many other, much safer, clubs to run with out here. You have invested $50k + in a car. Spend the extra $50 and run with a club that gives you a much better chance of driving your car home in the same condition you took it there in. The two people with serious crashes today are probably not too thrilled that they saved their few $ on track time. The Corvette crash should never have happend if people had just been letting cars past without trying to turn it into a race. Very poorly run event.
