Would love to see you both Michael if you don't mind repeating some things. I think Rosie and Jack are coming again. I think we are up to 10 people now.

Count me out until I get a few things in order. I'd really, really like to go...but I can't commit until certain things occur.

For those on the fence, this was one of the best trips I've ever done. From the amazing towns, wonderful tour of the Lotus factory, Goodwood Revival (words can't explain just how awesome this was) to the incredible people that I had the pleasure of spending time with. For those of you who went on the trip and did not go to the RAF museum, I highly recommend it.

Oh and there is Sticky Pudding Toffee.

Did you know that it takes about 4 hours only to go from downtown London (Waterloo Station) to Cologne by train or back? The Eurotunnel really makes Britain a part of the mainland.

In case we will join you this would probably be the way to do it - take the train. Travelling will be less fun than with the Elise, but the train can haul more shoes.

Randy, glad to hear it just may happen again. Except, no Rosie this year. But I am bringing three racing buddies (one is from the UK). So keep us informed--we are all anxious, and will be discussing it at the Long Beach GP this weekend. Any ideas on a route, yet?

Thanks for the comments. Rosie is fine, and I am working on her to go again. I think it depends are where we are going, although it will take something spectacular to beat the 2007 trip. Any ideas, yet?

Lots of ideas!

How do you fancy a private track day at Thruxton or Castle Combe?

Maybe spend a couple of days exploring the west and Wales?

Castle Combe would be great. Do they supply cars? The west and/or Wales would be good, too. Hopefully it would be different sights than in 2007. Any idea of transportation? A mini-bus? Of course it will depend on how many make the trip. Keep us informed!

Castle Comb

Yes they do!

Castle Combe Circuit

And yes, we'll be in a mini-bus if we don't get alot more folks signed up.

Further, Lotus required we have 24 drivers for our private track day last time, and we're not even close to that now.

Whew, back from much travel including the Rossion Road Trip so now my focus is on planning this one.

Just a reminder bump. We are planning out the trip right now.

General question though... how important is it to you to go to Lotus?

For those that went before, would you want to do Cambridge again? Stonehenge? Winchester? The Greene King brewery?

And I'm definitely out for this year. Might go if you all do it again next year though.

I am glad that you are back, Randy. Even for the ones who stayed behind (going green with envy ) it was easy to follow you and the other guys. There were so many excellent reports and pictures on this forum.

Congratulations on the new orange monster - and your new haircut.

As far as the UK trip is concerned, here are my two cents - and please keep in mind that Anja and I have not yet decided to go, but chances are higher than 50%:

- getting back to Hethel is important, I believe. Things are changing all the time; there is the new Evora and the Evora production now, and I couldn't get enough of Classic Team Lotus. However, the question is if the visit there can be combined with a visit to Norwich (instead of the track half-day).

- there are so many interesting places and towns in England that I would suggest to find a couple of new destinations.

- finding Hotels like the 'du Vin' in Winchester is crucial. It was one of the highlights of the 2007 trip. The same applies for the Restaurants.

- I would just like to recall the 'Nürburgring matter' in case people have enough time on the way back to the US and are curious to see it.

My experience is that trying to copy exactly what has been very successful or pleasant sometimes fails. So a mixture of elements that we have seen combined with something new might be a good idea.

To me, Hethel is not important (would not do the track experience again), unless there are some places to visit in that area that we did not see in '07. I agree with Michael (MS355) that the du Vin was a highlight. Not to go back there, but someplace like that. My favorites are the little villages. Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I highly recommend a trip to the RAF museum. It was just a side trip while we were in London, but that museum rocks.
