Well as the master of trivial knowledge I'd like to add the following:

First Kansas City autumn freeze
Record earliest: September 22nd, 1995
Record latest: November 24th, 1931
Average: October 28th

There is one remaining autocross at the Truman Sports Complex (CHIEFS!) on October 23rd.

My wife is in San Diego on business from October 19th - October 23rd... but I have the rug rats... so no Lotus driving (except for the autocross when I get a babysitter!)

I know that the Amalgamated Lotus Owners have a weekly 8am Saturday breakfast meet (MARK BRACEWELL Kansas City, MO, (816) 459-7707). Perhaps we should give them a call as well.

My vote is for this Sunday the 16th since it will be (hopefully) before the freeze and I'll be more or less "free"

Just let me know!

So that weekend is out for you. I have to go to KCI on sat, but I'll drive in again on Sun if we need. Let's see if Mike can make it as well.

I am pretty open for the remaining weekends this month. My son is in from college this weekend and the last weekend, but he is here mostly to see his girlfriend. I don't want to miss him completely, but should be able to break away.

Scottmartin, it's good to see you here, nice to add one more to our bunch. Saturday this wknd is out for me. Sounds like that the only open weekend for everybody is two weekends from this one, 28-30. I know we're chancing the weather, but I'd rather have everybody there. Anythoughts?

Saturday 29th is wide open for me. Sunday 30th I have a 2:00 pm Eagle Court of Honor my son is speaking at, so I would need to break away by noon or 1:00 pm depending on location.

Have we given any thought to joining the KC Lotus group Saturday morning?

Did we ever tie down a date and time? If it's tomorrow, I need to know. I'm not usually up that early on Saturday!

Not this weekend, either next or the one after.

How about we try to tie it down to Saturday, October 29. We could go to Sharps Bar and Grill at 63rd St. and Brookside Plaza in the Brookside area. The "Amalgamated Lotus Owners", a KC area Lotus group, get together there every saturday for an informal breakfast from 8:00AM - 10:00AM.

Does that work for everyone? If it is too early for some, we could meet at 9:00 and still see some of the other Lotus owners.

Dave, did you make it to one of those yet?

I stopped by around 8:50am last Saturday (Oct 15th), right before I dynoed. I didn't see any Lotuses parked around, not anyone inside wearing any Lotus clothing.

We should contact Mark Bracewell ahead of time so he can "alert the troops"...

I just talked to Mark Bracewell. He was not there Oct 15, but thought there should be some "car guys" there then. He will probably be in St Louis at an SCCA race this comming Saturday, but thought there shoud be some Lotus and other car people there.

He said that the people that show up are not specifically Lotus, but Sharp's reserves an area for the car group. He said it is to the right as you go in the door, past a partition, and before the stairs going up to the bar. At least if I understood his directions properly. I has been a while since I have been there. At any rate, the Sharp's staff should know what you are talking about if you ask.

Exclamation So....

Are we going to meet this weekend?

If Mark thinks that hardly anyone will be at Sharps Saturday morning then we can pick some other place/time...

I know that the Le Peep at 79th & Quivira has a slew of Ferraris show up for breakfast the first Saturday of the month... we could do the LAST Saturday of every month... (they're also a Le Peep at Metcalf & College).

If casual lunch is more desirable then there is always Tomfooleries / O'Dowds on the Plaza or W.J. McBrides at 119th & Metcalf. McCoy's in Westport is also really great.

BTW, I have a KC Magazine from a couple of months ago where they reviewed a black Elise, driven by one Miranda Coggins. I have her email and will invite her just as soon as we to nail down a time and place.

Comments? Suggestions?

I vote saturday a.m. in a place where we don't have to parallel park!

Either of the Le Peeps would fit the bill. I personally like the home feel of the 79th & Quivira one. I always get the seafood crepes, although it hasn't (officially) been on the menu for about 8 years...

Really good atmosphere, food and service - and a bit closer to Bobby than Sharps (which does NOT have very good parking, BTW).

I was about to see if we were bailing on Sharp's Saturday morning. Not much response until today. I have no problem with changing it. 8:00 am is before I am usually up anyway. On the other hand, Mark said he would not be there, but expected others would be. I don't know what is usual for their Saturday mornings. I just thought it would be cool to see some of the other Lotus people. Also, there are several parking lots near without the need to parallel park.

Or either La Peep is fine with me.
