That looks like 84, right? That was a frustrating stretch of road, I was stuck behind three bicycles that were spread out enough to make it impossible to pass them, yet close enough that I couldn't pick them off one by one. Only the rearmost one was even riding close to the side of the road, the others were using the whole lane making passing even more impossible. Oh well. I never DO expect to have a good drive on 84 from 35 to 280.

I've not gone in a while. I'd love to take the Elan, but it's not run all winter. I'll try to get up in time!
Would love to see Alex's new ride! Kiyoshi

Folks, I wish I could come! But work keeps me busy lately.
The car finally arrived today at noon. I had to sneak out from work for an hour to meet it but could not stay home for any time to enjoy it. I had brief 12 mile ride in the evening. It only has 32 miles after that. Quote:

I'll confess that I didn't really like driving with those guys - doing 120 on 85, weaving around, passing on double yellows... not my cup of tea. I live up Almaden Exp, near where you turn right then turn again to hit McKean - I know the average AV soccer mom is not expecting 10-12 cars coming down Almaden at 90mph.
After the reservoir, I headed south to Gilroy - nice, smooth drive, only slight traffic. Later that day, I did Hicks Road - when you get to the end of Almaden Expressway, turn right, keep going till you hit Almaden Road, then turn left. Go slow through New Almaden (a small town you'll pass through a mile or two down that road), then get set for 14 miles of nearly deserted twisty goodness. I hope yesterday wasn't representative of the typical SR non-lotus drive. ![]()

Most drives aren't like that, usually its tame on the freeway then a little more spirited around the twisties wherever we are. If you noticed, I was in the back of the pack on the freeway as well
Just depends who's leading I suppose |

This week's meet should be huge given what is being discussed in other forums. Hope we can have a good showing of Elises!
Who's leading the drive? I tried to follow a bunch of Ferraris last week but they seemed to just be driving home (I missed the coastal run of the other group).I hope we can leave for the drive a little earlier than past 11am, though... Cheers! |
