I'm about to send my registration in.

Question: Should I stay at the Marriott through Sunday and check into the La Quinta on Monday or should I stay at the Marriott through Saturday and check into the La Quinta on Sunday?

Michelle will be with me and I'm sure that she will be happier at the Marriott but it looks like things start pretty early on Monday and it's an hour from the Marriott to the La Quinta...

I'm not sure what the right play is here.

Well there is a manditory drivers' meeting for track-day participants at the Marriot on Sunday night at 9:00PM. Hope that helps.

My .02 - I'd get everything moved over to the La Quinta on Sunday just so you don't have to go all the way back to the Marriott and hassle with it after being at the track all day. You'll miss as much traffic as you can that way too.

Hmmm... I'd planned to drive over from the house. Now I'm kind of thinking about La Quinta for the track day.

I asked Dennis Rooney if I should stay at the La Quinta on Sunday and he replied with this:
Quote:
My advise would be to do just that for three primary reasons:

1. The LaQuinta is less expensive then the Marriott
2. The LaQuinta is very close to the track and the Marriott pretty far away, enough that you'll have to get up REAL early to make Tech Inspections at the track from the Marriott
3. The Marriott will be pretty empty on Sunday while just about everyone engaged in Track Days will be at the LaQuinta so it will also be a better place to socialize.
While $10 is cheaper, it isn't really that much money.

Number two is probably the biggest thing for me. Getting Michelle to wake up early in the morning would be very difficult.

I was told that the manditory tech inspection is on Saturday at the Circle R Ranch, and that there would be no such opportunity Monday morning at the track.

Now you're saying there IS an alternative?

I was also told the manditory drivers' meeting is at 9PM Sunday at the Marriott. Are all those tracking folks staying at the LaQuinta going to attend that meeting, then drive over to the LaQuinta after the meeting?

Can anybody PLEASE set me straight on these two issues?

Now I'm confused too. Seems like any mandatory track day driver's meetings would be held at the track hotel (i.e., the La Quinta). Otherwise, that defeats the purpose of having a nearby place of lodging (at least for Sunday evening).

http://www.lotuscarclub.org/LOG/LOG26/schedule.html doesn't have a location for the Sunday 9:00PM – 10:00PM Track Day Chalk Talk (Mandatory for Track Day) session.

Monday 7:00AM – 7:45AM Yokohama Tire track day registration/check in Final Tech Inspections <- Seems to indicate that tech inspection is on Monday morning.

Dennis replied to my email very quickly, maybe someone could ask him.

Dunno about the tech inspections, but I made my reservations for Sunday night at the La Quinta. I figured that it would be easier to move over on Sunday than do it after the day at the track (all my junk in the car at the track). FWIW, I'll be coaching/instructing at the track days, and I'll be helping out at LOG registration most of the time, so come up and say "hi." Looking forward to meeting many of you there.

The track day driver's meeting is being held immediately after the Sunday night banquet at the Marriott. Because essentially everybody will be at the banquet and not everybody is shifting to the La Quinta Sunday, it made more sense to have the meeting at the same location as the banquet.

Staying at the La Quinta Sunday night shortens the Monday morning drive to the track (20min. vs ~60+min) but those who are only doing one day out at the track are probably staying at the Marriott to eliminate the hassle of switching hotels.

Those with trailers I believe are able to drop them off at the track Sunday afternoon and are probably checking in to the La Quinta before heading back to the Marriott for the banquet. I'm personally not going to check in until after the drivers meeting Sunday night so I can make just one trip.

Cheers,
Michael

Does anyone know if there will be a cost for attending the Concorso on the 15th? Or do you need to be a member of LOG?

There is no cost to see the Lotus of Atlanta LOG 26 Concours but if you'd like to join in the concours, you'll need to register for LOG Friday or Saturday at the Marriott Solana.

The count down begins....
We leave next Sunday for LOG 26, Three brave souls from the NY/NJ LEO club will make the 1000+ mile trip (the rest of us are flying ). Stopping along the way at a few pionts of interest including Bowling Green Ky, to tour the Corvette museum. I think the road trip is half the fun of LOG.
This year LOG is turning into a full two week affair

See you all there..!!

Talking

A good reason to goto LOG , I just won a free set of Bridgestone tires tonight at the banquet ... My Audi needs a set of new tires too...

Additional plus, Aggies layed the smack down on Mizzou.

Good times ...

You Granbury boys missed it.

I passed a Murcielago on 114 (he actually moved over to let me by) and a 430 on 75 on the way home tonight.
