how about doing it in the evening? around 4 PM and finish by the sunset? Just a thought as it's probably cool to watch the sun set.

as this is last MS race in F1, I would like to watch the whole race, but then I dont want anyone to accomodate my needs just by changing meet times because I can't come. If you guys decide to go ahead at 9 AM, then next week we can meet again...

We may not get this settled by tomorrow AM.

Personally my schedule supports the Sunday morning run. My wife has her religion, and I have mine.

These loosely organized drives occur frequently. If you can't make it, I'll see you some other time.

Sit back, relax and watch Schummi retire realtime. I'm a Kimi fan so I can stand to watch the McLaren blow up on tape.

I'll be in RB between 830 and 900. I guess I'm not THAT flexible.

FYI, Desert season has started. Generally the back roads of San Diego County are backed up soild with returning desert enthusiasts by Sunday afternoon.

I agree it's generally a bad idea to do drives in the late afternoon.

Alright, let's leave it at the standard time for consistency (the other MS has spoken ) Probably a bad precedent to keep changing it every week anyway.

8:30am meet, leave by 9:00am.

I'll be there at 8:30 am. How many cars is that?

My wife got me a pair of Oakley Carbon-X race gloves for our 7th anniversary, I gotta try them out!

Ya guys that was fun, but I have never seen so many cops in one place , and it is the first time ever that I have seen more than one cop on those back roads. Maybe they will take a break next week so I can let my exhaust sing

Yea, thanx all for coming out. I'm addicted to this friggin car! After I came back home I left it in the parking structure and started missing it 3 minutes later on the elevator...

Justin, we missed you!

Good run, guys. Mike, thanx for leading, you must know exactly where the cops hide, or you have a spotless record... or you're just a very very nice guy.

What route did you take and where were the cops concentrated?

That's a question for Hayseed, I was just following...

BTW, the cops travel in pairs now, I suppose antcipating larger groups, as they are not content by pulling over just one.
Evil. Pure Evil.

Most of the cops were on Palomar mountain. At least five cops patroled the base of the mountain, at least one to two motorcyles cops were camped with radar guns on the way up south grade (I think thats what the steep side is called). A few more patrol cars and motorcyles just chilling at the top of the mountain, and a Patrol aircraft circling overhead. And on the way back there were two cops camped on Mesa Grande. Have never seen them out in force like this.

It is typical in this area for the cops to do concentrated speed enforcement like this. It seems to make a bigger impression on the drivers because they don't know when/where it will be, and realize that they are much more likely to be caught than if it is just a single cop somewhere.

I have seen them do such concentrated enforcement on stretches of 78 between Ramona and Santa Ysabel, and on 67 between Poway Road and Scripps Poway Parkway. Also common is at the dip near the east end of Scripps Poway Parkway.

They tend to do it a few times close together within a month, and then back to random single car enforcement for 6 to 24 months before hitting it again in force. So don't be surprised if Palomer is their target again in the next week or two.

It has been my experience that patrol like this comes in phases of 2-3 weekends in a row.

I would love to make the get together. When its the next one?

The next one's next Sunday. Meet at 0830, leave at 0900. Scroll back a little for the meeting location, it's always the same. Participation is hit and miss, but the more people commit a few days in advance, the better the turnout seems to be.

see you there.

I am in for this week, however I would like to suggest if we can do a route along the coast beside the mountain. It gives us a variety of routes and also nice view. I want to take pics of my car.

I might be able to make it this week. I wish there were some good roads on the coast but I don't know any if you stay in SD County. For a photo op, think Cabrillo Monument or at least the road to it near Fort Rosecrans.
