There was no rain, well a little, but it was real fun. There was a little road with no centerline that was foggy and slippery and twisty and fun. There were over 30 Porches, a Z06, a Sirocco, and ONE lotus. Many of the 30 Porches were real slow, but once I made my way to the front, there was a good amount of fun to be had. In my opinion all that missed it missed out.

Also I have the route guide so should we feel like attempting a new route we can try that one.

Sorry I couldn't make it. It was raining the night before and when I woke up the morning, the road was still wet. I am not going to risk it due to my rear tires and don't want to sliding around.

The good thing though is that now you know the route. We should try it again sometime.

you GOTTA make this next one...

Okay, back to my plea to y'all: Anyone up for THIS Sunday, the 17th? Hayseed, you're excused , kids are more important . I'm looking for a nice turnout to show my dad the way these beauties handle in tandem. I'm also hoping someone knows East SD county better than I do...

I'll also try to get Peter M (former Sector 111, current SCCA,BMWCCA,LOTUS) to come out. We might all learn something from him...

More incentive: my treat on all coffee you can drink at any place we decide to crash, ...er, stop at. And, I'll bring my camera for anyone who wants to be shot ...er, photographed.

Luke

Standard meeting place? I am in based upon weather. Should we start using radios like the LA crowd?

I will be there with bells on.

I think that I have one or two of those radios, I will try and find them.

why do we need radios? Just use cell phone... call everyone before the drive then just use the most recent call list to dial if you want to talk. even with bluetooth, make this simpler to drive and talk

  1. No guarantee of coverage where we tour.
  2. Not everyone uses the same cell provider.
  3. Radios are more like a conference call.
  4. Headsets allow participation without distraction to the driving.

With radios, you can clip them to your seatbelt and make a quick announcement to the group, esp. if conditions change or something there is something more time critical at say.

Anyway, it's not strictly necessary, but it's nice to bring one if you have it...

There's still plenty of time for the weather to change. Last weekend it was supposed to rain on Sunday also, but it didn't - finished raining by Sat afternoon.

Looks like we're due for a good turnout if it's nice outside...
Keeping my fingers crossed,
Luke

My cell craps out as soon as we get into back country, and does not come back online untill we return... I have T-Mobile.

Luke,
thanks for the kind words! i would love to come but have an LA BMW event i have to instruct at.

but in saying that, let me know what the turnout will be for this sunday and i'll see how the LA BMW club is doing on instructors. if they are not short on instructors i will come play.

Palomar Mountain? Telegraph Canyon? i'll PM you Luke

At this point it looks like it will rain through the night on saturday, and clear up by 8:00 Sunday. This might still change, but that's more than acceptable. I'll be there no matter what. Show your bravery, be there!

Meet at 8:30, leave at 9:00. The place:

There is an Albertson's supermarket in the parking lot. Its address is
12475 Rancho Bernardo Rd
San Diego, CA 92128
It is at the southwest corner of Rancho Bernardo Road and Pomerado Road.

According to the weather report, it looks like it will finish raining by 2:00 am, so it should be nice by 8:30.

get some!
