5 Cars Today

We had 5 cars today, 1 was Jeph's Exige. We covered the usual Highland Valley Road, Old Julian Hwy, Mesa Grande, Palomar Mt. and Wynola Road to Julian.

Some participants even recieved custom graphics compliments of the bovine residents of Mesa Grande.

See you next week.

For the people who were thinking about coming out but didn't... You're being weenies. Even Jeph's MOM showed up in her OWN elise... She's a sweet little old lady. So what's your excuse?

Seriously now... a good time was had by all, and Mike knows the roads really well, since he's lived out there most of his life.

As for the cows, they seemed appreciative of the Elises, they moved to both sides of the road and watched us go by.

That was a really nice drive. Everyone behaved and seemed to drive their own road so to speak. Jeph's mom coming out with us was very cool.

I hope no one felt that had to go too fast or too slow due to other drivers.

So, now that I am back from vacation ...

What about next Sunday - July 30?

And shouldn't the name of the thread be changed to "San Diego Sunday Drive"?

Can I just say:

Storm Ti is almost as beautiful as the most beautiful Lotus color available: Lotus Racing Green.

Ideas on where to go this time?

Some thoughts:
1) Borrego Springs Loop: Ramona -> Julian-> Borrego Springs -> 79 -> 76 -> Mesa Grande Road (just because) -> Santa Ysabel -> Ramona
1a) Option: Head out to the Salton Sea and check out the old mostly abandoned resort town
Drawback: ooo, hot! (Maybe that one should wait for October)

2) Old Hwy 80 trip

3) Something in the south east county: I don't know the south east county roads very well, but they look interesting on the map. Suggestions?

4) Other thoughts?

I didn't mention that one because we did it about 3 weeks ago, but you are right, it is a good drive, and we can always do it again.

Depart from the Rancho Bernardo location again around 8-8:30am? Corner of Pomerado/RB Road, near Starbucks?

Does anyone know the boundaries of the current big fire in San Diego county, the "Horse Fire", and how it might effect the route we take? I haven't been able to find a map of where it is.

Horse Fire is between Lake Morena and Barrett Lake.

We can always meet in RB and discuss options. I'm OK with Laguna and Cuyamaca again. The fire may cause delays south of interstate 8. If the weather doesn't break, Borrego and Salton Sea will be too hot.

No replys?

How about the same meeting place as last week. RB road and Pomerado, southwest corner near the Starbucks. I'll be there. It looks like the weather may be breaking a bit so a run down Banner grade and up out of Borrego isn't entirely out of the question. We can discuss options tomorrow.

I have rain here right now (Saturday AM). If I have rain tomorrow, I'll be a no show.

See you if its dry.
