Autocross?

For the last 2 seasons I have been campaigning an 07 STI at the local Autocross series here in Alberta. Next season I plan to use the Elise and was wondering who else on this forum is using their car. Having competed since I was 9 years old I am more than aware that in most cases it's the nut behind the wheel and not the car. Saying that I imagine that the Elise would have to work very hard to stay with an S2000 or a quick MX5.

Your thoughts

I autocross my car and many of my friends do as well. An S2000 or Miata is absolutely no match for an Elise assuming equal drivers.

^^Agree, I was gonna say the same thing.
The Elise should kill the Miata and S2000.

Sorry, coudn't resist. The Elise eats those cars for breakfast. You will soon learn, young Skywalker.

I've never thought of that. Maybe it would be a good car for autocross. But let's be realsitic, not Miata and S2000 kind of good.

Just josh'n ya. It's awesome.

This thread smells of Lotus USA corporate warranty voiding bait.

And no the Elise does not kill the Miata. CSP Miata is faster than SS Elise.

Elises do kill Miatas assuming relative driver equality. Comparing different classes doesn't help your argument.

I'll see your CSP Miata and raise you an ASP SC Elise.

My point was that the Elise is much faster on course than a Miata.

Now, if Cosmos wants to play the mod game, sure. I can find an Austin Healey Sprite that's faster than an Elise. Also, a '95 BMW. That's not really the point.

Fine, lets compare the same class/prep level, no mod game here (but SP for Elise is more advantageous than SP for Miata, the Lotus gets a S/C). Equal class prep SP for SP the CSP Miata is STILL faster than a well prepped ASP s/c Lotus (I know Ueyda can drive too) and even the famous Blackwatch XP 380rwhp 1600 pound Elise.

Check nationals results this year. The CSP to ASP time is already a huge smackdown of 2.36 seconds and still a margin of nearly a second (.957) over Blackwatch's XP car.

Top CSP NC Miata ran a 2 day time of 79.929 seconds
Top ASP S/C Lotus ran a 2 day time of 82.292 seconds
Top XP turbo Lotus ran a 2 day time of 80.886 seconds

Now imagine a CSP NC Miata with the 260 whp Cosworth S/C on it. I love my Elise but lets give credit where it's due. SP Miata's are insanely well developed and you just can't underestimate cramming 285 A6's on all 4 corners.

Sorry, but that's generally car prep and driver.

Cosmos points out that CSP Miatas can be quite quick. That's the only real form of Miata that should be faster than an Elise, and then generally only stock Elises. If stock Miatas were as fast as stock Elises, they'de be in SS, not CS and ES. And they wouldn't be allowed to play in STS2. I can't believe we are debating this.
