Vintage Lotus auto-x

I was wondering whether anyone was auto crossing their older lotus? I am running a Europa and would like to know others setups and how they were doing. Also thinking of elans in particular.

User RopaS2 has done some autox, in fact I've watched him before. His profile said he hasn't logged on since October, maybe he'll chime in. He has a Europa.

There's a huge knowledge base on AutoX'g Europas. Check out some of the Europa sites, the tech section in the GGLC website and the Europa list in Yahoo groups.

Basic stuff applies -
> Corner weights
> Spring rates (stiffer rear)
> Add rear sway bar
> Slightly stiffer front bar
> wheels/tires
> Alignment
> Shocks

At the WCLM in October long time GGLC member and Autocrosser ran his TC Europa and was within a second of the best Elise times. There was a time that the Europa ruled it's class at the Solo II Nationals.

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

Kiyoshi, what about those 2 heavily modded Europa race cars at the GGLC autox? Those things were pretty nuts!

Forgot about those... Both are driven by ex-Solo-II Nat'l Champs. One is "barely" a Europa. Both are powered by rotaries, one has a 13B the other is a 3 rotor turbo that has CRAZY power! I'm hoping we can get them back to some the events in 2009. I think LarryB posted a few pix on Flicker.

The one pictured above is pretty stock. Stock engine, some suspension mods and runs in Street Prepped.

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

I've seen a heavily modded Elan on course many a time. Usually driven by a multi-national champion and very accomplished course designer. I don't have any photo's, but I'm sure there are plenty out there.

Seems like mostly national champions drive the older lotuses. Guess I'm in good company!
