Do you think the bumper waiver expiring had any impact on 2006 and up Elise USA sales?

Nope, I don't think the waiver(s) had much impact on sales. There was an internal argument at Lotus about handling the initial sales surge. Camp A said sell what you can, the other for measured production. Camp B argued the NA market could handle about 10K cars & assumed the waivers would get expire. So they had about 5-6 years to sell 10K or about 2K cars/year.

    Part 2...

In hindsight, the camp B was correct, about 10K cars were sold, half sold in 2005 & the remainder declining over the next 5 years.

I totally get why Camp A camp won the argument, Lotus needed money. Hethel needed to show a win to keep the Malaysian money flowing.

    See ya in Salt Lake!

I know it’s late, but I just got my car back from getting vinyl stripes. It should be the first 400 heritage edition style car out there. If there is still time, and you need a solid submission for the 2019 calendar, please email me at rcswift1@gmail.com and I’ll send you a photo. Of course, the smoke in CA is killing any real chances for blue skies, but I’ll send you what I have if you want.

    Hi Kiyoshi --

Thanks for the reply, will forward to GGLC. Not sure about LOG31(I did make LOG 1 and about the first 20!); maybe I can glean a ride/drive from a local but it's a long haul from Ohio.

Good to hear from you. Take care - enjoy Vegas!

    Hi Kiyoshi --

Haven't talked to you in years at a LOG. I had an Elise for about 5 yr (sold) and want another, so my JPS Europa's are for sale. Hope you are well.

    BAD NEWS!

The "new" old car we planned to take on the run crapped out today. We don't know what's wrong, but I am 98% certain I won't be able to lead or attend the run.

    So sorry...

There is another club member that was planning on attending. I'm checking with he to see if he's willing to sub for me. The route is pretty well defined so who ever shows up could still and should take the drive.

Again sorry for the last minute change, but 40 year old Lotus sometimes don't cooperate.
