I've wondered about monoballs and their longevity as well... The ones from EliseParts look nice!

Thinking of K-swapping? Here's an idea of the cost involved.

The design is the same except the bearing used by Monkey Wrench is smaller in OD, that is why it is inside of an aluminum sleeve. That is why I'm curious if you got the part # off of the bearing.

Some very yellow rear suspension parts 🙂

Had hoped to powder coat them but running out of time. Will pull them some Winter and have them done.

No one is qualified or has the jigs to repair that chassis except Lotus.
You know, I visited a local powdercoating facility recently and they do some of the chassis for a local kit car manufacturer, and they can dial those ovens to any temp (under I think 500) to within 5 degrees and are digitally controlled for temp and time.

Wondering if anyone's ever considered using a powdercoating oven to fix and cure a chassis to the same specs as lotus. Does anyone know the adhesive and curing schedule they use? Because I can't imagine it couldn't be replicated with one of these ovens.

Worked a little later then planned. But was able to install all the suspension today.

Safely delivered to painter. Fingers crossed on a speedy paint job. Most panels are already sanded, rear clam is fully repaired and in primer. Only few small repairs needed on right door.

Removed aluminum from front crash structure. Was not as bad as I thought. Luckily air chisel made it easy to section aluminum structure into smaller strips. Less heat need to release bonding.

@munozt check out this project if you haven't seen...full chassis swap. But that front crash structure brings back bad memories. I am still itchy from all that fiberglass everytime I think about it.

Consider installing a bleeder directly on the radiator. Access to the stock bleeder (at least in my 2005 Elise) is absurd. But I can SEE the upper corner of my radiator...

I read the post on the air chisel on my phone the other day and panicked, what aluminum is he air chiseling off?!

I see now it was a crash structure that had been cut off of a chassis

I can relax now!

Transmission mount repair finished. Had to invest in a wire feed welder, tried tig but did not like the results on test transmission. I’ve done at least a 100 repairs with wire feed and need for my parts sales business anyway. Using BOE stud kit and will epoxy them into trans for added strength. I’m told I should get chassis back this coming week. So will get transmission reattached to engine and install gated oil pan in the next couple days.

Is that the eliseparts.com header? I've been curious how it would perform compared to the USA offerings. The current dollar to pound conversion makes the price very appealing.

New radiator and condenser mounted into shell. Added some stainless hardware and gave a wipe down. Running out of things to do waiting on painter.
