The grease is for the rubber insulator at the top of the pump. The pump should have a small white spacer with some holes and slots in it, and on top of that should be the pump o-ring.
As far as the metal tab goes, on the top cap assembly of the fuel pick up, on the flat side with the opening with the plugs, there is a small slot for that metal tab to be inserted so it sits flush with the outside of the sending unit. The metal tab grounds the sending unit with the tank when she is fit back in. I just did my walbro 255 install, but i didn't take any pictures of the tab.
Awesome thank you for the help! On the plastic spacer it has 3 slots on one side and 2 on the other. Does it matter which direction it faces when it is installed?
No problem! I installed mine with the 3 slots down, from what i recall that is the way it was from factory. I'm not sure if there is a difference tho.
