Exclamation How to download Service Manuals, Parts List and TSBs

IMO, it is essential to have the service manual prior to working on the Elise/Exige, to figure out why your car threw a code, etc. It is very handy to have this information available in digital form, especially in a searchable PDF format. Instructions on how to download the manual from Lotus are buried in a few threads on the forum here, but the threads are very long and it can be difficult to find the instructions that work in the threads. So, to make life easier for everyone...

This is the method for obtaining the Lotus Elise/Exige Service Manual, Parts List and TSBs in PDF form from Lotus for $25*.
  1. Start here: Lotus Subscribe.
  2. Click "I Agree"
  3. Sign up and pay to be a "subscriber" by choosing and entering the required information: username, password, email, first and last names. You can obtain everything available with the 24 hour option for $25.00 (first of the three options). You can sign up for longer if you wish to give Lotus more than $25 because you have cash to burn.
  4. Open the email account that you used to register. You should receive an email with your Subscription Receipt for Lotus Tech Info. This sometimes takes a bit of time.
  5. After receiving the email, use this link Lotus Subscriber - Log-in to get to the download site.
  6. Sign in with your user name and password and download away.
For those who prefer a hard copy but don't want to pay the $$$ for the official available through the dealership copy, you can download the PDFs from Lotus, have them printed and bound at your local Kinko's. It is not very expensive comparatively to do so.

Or you can use them on a laptop in your garage although I personally find that very frustrating and I get in trouble for the grease and grime on the laptop keyboard and monitor.

*Non-US users, I am sorry but this does not seem to work for you unless you have a US paypal account.

There is an alternative site for downloading service note information from Lotus for 5 euros per hour, 15 euros per day, 45 euros per week, 250 euros per month or 1200 euros per year. I do not know if this works for US customers or not as I have not tried the site. It contains Evora info as well as Elise/Exige.

I'm trying to download the manual, but all I see is emissions-related documents - how do I find the service manual for an Elise?

Those documents are what you want... just download everything on the site. The service manual and service bulletins (TSB) are in there.

After downloading everything, would you be so kind as to list the TSBs that are there? Frequently the question is raised as to the most current TSBs available.

Same problem here. Loaded down all sorts of TSBs but couldn't find a parts manual. I'm specifically looking to find information related to the drivers side door internals.

It is confusing but the TSB are the manual -- for example open this up in the emissions sub category ( 05.%20BR%20Body%20Fittings ) and you will find the manual for the body fittings.

Best advice is to open up a few and look -- then just download them all and then try to categorize them.

Just downloaded all the files. I've been building websites for 7 years and I've never seen something that should be organized and labeled in a user friendly manner in such discord, I can’t believe you have to pay for this garbage. To get these in a useable format it’s going to take days of reorganization. I expected Lotus to have a single PDF file for each model year, all in order and ready to go. Their lucky I don’t host it for free on my server and mass email the link to all LT members.

Your kidding right?

This is a low volume car not a Honda Civic. If you haven't already noticed everything about the car is going to be low volume, a little "different" and unpolished compared to any run-off-the-mill vehicle. That is something you just have to live with once you buy a Lotus.

Lotus is letting you pay $25 to download all of their service manual documentation. You are paying for the documentation not the website. I don't care if its in ftp, wiki, rainbow colored web links, etc. As long as I get the manuals, $25 is a steal.

Thanks to the OP by the way. These manuals have been well worth it for all the work I've done on the car.

I'm with you... Try getting a manual for a newer Porsche 911. The only reason I got mine is because someone had a hookup at a stealership. Otherwise it's thousands a year to use their website.

How long do you have to wait for the email response after signing up and doing the paypal purchase? I have waited over 12 hours now, with no email response, and the money has been taken out of my paypal account. I also tried logging in with my username/password, but it says:
