Typically though it seems to be PM'd to anyone who asks, even if it is their first post and they just joined that day.... kind of defeats the purpose in my mind...

See Elise... want Elise.... go to Starbucks (on every corner)... use Wifi there to sign up... ask for instructions... get instructions PM'd... go steal car...

What kind of key is used? Most locks can be hand picked with the already available tools..

I think that is extreme paranoia to think that somebody would go onto a forum and find out how to steal a lotus through the trunk. If you are knowledgeable enough to know how to jump start a car through the engine, I don't think that flimsy doors or trunk cover would stop you.

As always, Road Dad is right on target. PM only is a bit paranoid perhaps, but has been custom.

So roniarnpc, did it work?

Surprisingly that "flimsy" trunk cover is very difficult to get through! Non US cars are almost impossible to get into if you lock the keys in the boot - from first hand experience!

Luckily no thief who knows how to bypass the door lock, steering lock, ignition, and immobilizer, would think to google "open Elise trunk without key" and click on the first link. I'll sleep better tonight knowing my trunk is secure.

I have noticed that almost everyone that seems to lock in their keys has fewer than 5 posts.

Yep, and I don't think it is paranoid not to make any security information available. I have an even easier modification method of getting into the trunk, but will not share it with anyone I do not know .

I just locked my key/fob in the trunk. Can someone please PM me a method for getting them out? As per the discussion in this thread, trying to pick the lock has been unsuccesful. Thanks. Nearest dealer in Durham is about 1.5 hrs away.

I thought the original thread was deleted because the admins didnt want it on the internet, but saw it in a search a week ago and happenned to remember who the original poster was that invented the solution.

If an admin wants to contact me I will tell you the original thread title so it can be deleted.
