i locked my keys in my civic. anyone have a spare lotus?

seriously though, i locked my keys in the trunk within a week of getting mine. thankfully someone from work was able to get me a ride home, where i had my spares, and then drove me back to work to pick up my car. is there an easier way to open the trunk (instead of having a small child inside trained to pull the emergency release handle whenever you do so) ?? PMs welcomed.
Thanks!

So I must ask.

Are you just trying to get your post count up or something? You are responding to threads that are all 6+ months old... with responses that don't exactly apply.

Break the window to get into the trunk in an Elise?

Can someone PM me the idea behind getting locked keys out of the trunk? Inevitably, it will happen to me one day, so I'd rather be prepared beforehand. The more info you know on these cars, the better!

I had to push my Elise for half a mile uphill in the rain (on the Belt Parkway of NY mind you, without shoulders) because I hit a construction pothole hard enough to kill the fuel cutoff. I also jumped and rode on the trunk of it for the other downhill half mile while the wifey was steering. It was about 30 minutes later while ranting to a friend on the phone about how it seemed like the car just has no fuel... and it suddenly clicked in my head about a safety switch I read about months earlier on sandsmuseum

Did you even read this thread? If not, read it. If you did, read it again and pay attention this time.

(look at post #26 )

If I locked my keys in my truck, first I'd wonder why I had the keys to my lotus in my truck.

Take a wire coat hanger, straighten it out, bend one end to a small U shape just smaller than the diameter of the lock button. Next, put a slight banana shape bend along the entire length of the wire. Now, slip this jury rigged door opener through the top of the window, use some lubricant if the window is tight – get the U shape under the neck of the door lock button and pull up. I’ve done it twice in under 5 minutes. Good luck.

Many thanks to Bob Harris.

I've owned my Elise for 6-1/2 years and the first time I lock the keys in the boot is at LOG34.

A quick LotusTalk search on my android told me the man who knew the secret was in the parking lot!

I replaced the boot lid plastic louvers with mesh so the conventional coat hanger trick was out,

I now know the secret and have sworn a sacred LT oath never to reveal it on a public forum.
