I found all the toyota engine and transmission manuals at the european site:

Edit:
ChrisH found updated links,

I'll check later if I can find updated links to the toyota-europe site.
http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/find_SM.asp?&d=1&lang=En

Access for one day is 16 euros, I don't think they don't do the separate subscriptions toyota vs lexus, you can access both.

Lotus name: Elise/Exige 6 Speed Engine Manual
Lotus part: B120T0327J
Toyota name: English Repair Manual ENGINE (1999-->) vehicle id: ZZT230
Toyota part: RM733E
Toyota name: English Repair Manual ENGINE (2000-->) vehicle id: ZZT231
Toyota part: RM733E
Both links take you to the same document,
Both Available when you search for Celica/English and it will be under Repair Manual/Engine.

Lotus name: Elise/Exige 6 Speed Engine Supplement
Lotus part: C120T0327J
Toyota name: English Repair Manual ENGINE (2001-->) vehicle id: ZZE123 From Oct. 2001 production.
Toyota part: RM929E
Strange too, the description is for a Main Manual not a supplement. But it's the right manual
Available when you search for Corolla/English and it will be under Repair Manual/Engine.

Lotus name: Elise/Exige 6 Speed Transmission
Lotus part: D120T0327J
Toyota name: English Repair Manual CHASSIS + BODY (2001-->) vehicle id: ZZE123 C64 Manual Transaxle
Toyota part: RM930E
Another strange one, they didn't put the document under the transmission. But it's the right manual too.
Available also doing a search for Corolla/English and it will be under Repair Manual/Chassis+Body

You don't have to pay to do the searches, and 16 euros is not that much money. (around $25) Anyway tomorrow I'm going to try to create a one day account, hopefully they allow access from the US, or I'll have to use my parent's address in Spain and pay taxes I guess.

If anyone does this before I have a chance tomorrow, please post if the documents are the right ones before any others try.

I also did a post on at the end of the Lotus service manuals thread:

Check the other thread linked above for a follow up of getting both engine manuals and the transmission one.

In short, it's a PITA because you have to download one section at a time for each manual.

RM733E consists of 230 pdf documents and both RM733E documents are the same, get the one labeled 2000 just in case. I ended up with only 229 in the 1999 one but maybe i did miss a link.

RM929E consists of 29 pdf documents.

RM930E consists of 16 pdf documents.

I also got all the SDS for both the Celica and the Corolla, also some electrical documents where it refered to the 2ZZ-GE engine. And also RM925E the corolla repair document I tried to get all the sections in connection with the 2ZZ-GE engine and the C64 transmision. Including intake, exhaust, etc...

Allow yourself a lot of time to do this because it's a lot of right clicks and save as. As well as having a directory ready for each document because acrobat tends to freeze if you try to create a directory from it's save as dialog.

Also you have to log-in after each document because it will probably time you out, so don't forget your username and password.

When creating the account it doesn't list the US in the country list, I placed UK instead and since may address and zip code was the right one for my credit card it went through with no problems.

Once you find the document, there should be a link to view it, that will open a window in full screen with navigation links of the left and the pdf contents on the right, you can right click on the navigation links and save as and put them on your prepared folder. some other are tricky and you have to actually display the pdf document and use the acrobat save button to place it in the right place (only the electrical stuff IIRC, not the main documents).

After you are done downloading all the pdf files, make sure you have the navigation tree as expanded as possible, right click on the background of that panel and do a select all, then control-c to copy and paste in word, it will maintain the hyperlinks, you can then save it as an html file in the directory you prepared, for example I called the one for the engine RM733Eindex.htm

Then you have to edit that html document and remove the remote link to the european server leaving only the name of the pdf file so that it can access it directly from your computer.

I know it's a lot of work, but worth it for me, maybe Ground Loop knows of a way to do everything automatically, I couldn't retreive the whole trees with wget so AFAIK it has to be done manually.

Edit: sorry for putting so many things in bold, but it's a pain to do this and you better read this message in detail before trying to do it. I won't be back on my computer until Monday so good luck :)

Found myself on baby duty tonight so I downloaded the 3 manuals between feedings. 229 RM733E files, 29 RM929E files and 16 RM930E files. I can put these files on a CD and ship it out to anyone who's interested. I'm not offering to pirate the files so all I can save you is the time and hand cramp from clicking and saving all those files. You'll have to pay for a subscription to the site, login using the account you setup and email me a screen capture with your name and subscription info.

Seems like I also missed one link - and it's probably the one I'm really going to need.

difficulty finding and downloading manuals

During my past visits at the Toyota Europe site, while attempting to download manuals for the Elise engine, I was not impressed with the ease of either finding the correct manuals or with the ease of downloading them.

Their search engine often returned no matches while the manuals were in fact there. Miguel has done a fine job describing exactly what manuals are there and how to avoid the difficulty in getting them. I suggest looking carefully at the car and the model to decide where to find the manual and then going there directly.

It takes a lot of patience to download them and confirm you got them all.

There might even be some benefit to getting some of the other manuals in oder to confirm some of Toyota's engine practices...

Do not believe the search engine results.

No, the transmission manuals are there (following Miguel's instructions), but the Celica engine manuals do not come up in the search...

(I finally got around to finding the time to download the manuals the other night, but they weren't there).

Anybody want to provide a service of burning the engine manuals to CD? I'll still pay Toyota and download the trans manuals, but I want the engine manuals too...:(

:thwack: Teach me for procrastnating...

Yeah, I tried to get the celica listing and it doesn't show anything at all, maybe they are updating the contents for the Celica or something.

Edit: Tim, you should have downloaded the manuals instead of :thwack: people that called the standard wheels Touring wheels.

You should have prefaced that line with a :thwack: .

I have been waiting for some time when I could sit down and do it since it is supposed to take a while. Normal days I'm too busy. The weekends are usually take up with other things and Honey-Dos. The other night, my wife was at a board meeting until very late, so I thought I'd go for it. Then I found out it was gone.

Am I getting this right? To get an engine service manual I need to subscribe to the Toyota Europe site and hope to get it all. To get Lotus manuals, somehow the site has to be fixed and then I have to pay a subscription and never receive updates? There is no other way? What a joke!

there is another way..

There is another way, normal if you will, of getting all the required manuals.

You just go to the local parts counter at your local Lotus dealership and order "paper" manuals. They still come the good ol' fashion way.

They come as one Lotus Service manual, one engine and one supplemental engiine manual. You might try and get the parts manual and all the updates and even the technical service bulletins while you are there.

I apologize, as sarcasm does not convey well on the forum.

In truth, it would be so much better to have the electronic forms of the documentation available readily on the web. Many of us know how to do that but it seems the manufacturers do not. They have converted to electronic form internally so I was hoping it was just a short step to making them available online. It appears Lotus and Toyota tried but for unknown reasons were not successful.

Those of you that enjoy conspiracy theories might suggest that the dealerships and their service departments stopped the readily available information flow, fearing it might take away business as we will all start doing our own maintenance.

The worst part is that we could solve this problem quickly all on our own! Apple will include a bit torrent client in the next release of the operating system. Several game developers distribute updates using a peer-to-peer client. We(!) could set up a distribution method if Toyota and Lotus would just let us. I have it but cannot give it to you without getting into trouble. Worse, none of the Technical Service Bulletins are getting updated any longer.

Rant over, sorry for venting, just make it so...

You have to register (free) but the 2000 Celica repair manuals are posted online in 2 PDF's - and a parts manual to boot:
http://newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=216130

Enjoy!
There have been scanned images of this manual posted here and elsewhere before (which I downloaded), but the one you linked to is actually searchable text, not a scanned image. I have now replaced my old scanned files with the ones at newcelica. Thanks for the link.

I found this service manual on-line. It's for the S2 with Rover engine. I haven't gotten been able to find the 2005 US version from the Lotus site yet.

I don't think this is exactly what I wanted, but for $8 what the heck.

The nice searchable PDF version of the Celica manuals that were posted at newcelica.org have moved. The three referenced files are now at the following links:

Celica Repair Manual Vol.1
Celica Repair Manual Vol.2
Part List

How did I find their new location? I did a search on Google for the file name. It turns out the domain changed from .com to .org. That was the only difference in the path from the old location to the new one.

Thank you for posting links to the new locations, exactly what I needed.
