Lotus Confirms Geneva Motor Show Debut

Quote:
Things finally seem to be moving according to plan for Lotus.

Today the troubled British sports car manufacturer announced that it plans to debut a new model during the Geneva Motor Show in March. Without releasing specific details about the car, Lotus said the new vehicle will 'remain true to its core pillars of lightness, performance and driving purity.'

Last year Lotus laid off 23 percent of its staff in an effort to reduce costs and make itself into a viable business again. Meanwhile, the company has been busily expanding its dealer network, adding 25 over the past nine months with another 50 planned by the end of 2015 globally for a total of 213 once all the stores are open. Over the past nine months, Lotus said its sales increased 54 percent year-over-year with a total of 1,565 units.

Even the U.S. Market had a slight uptick (around 30%). Hopefully this momentum continues!!

Oh NO!!!! If Porsche builds an SUV, the company will be destroyed. They'll never build another 911, they'll completely abandon their roots. They'll be out of business in three years. Next we'll have a Porsche minivan, and then that's it. Everyone knows the SUV segment is DYING! There's no way we'd ever see a Bentley or Lambo or Maserati SUV, right! No one with money wants those things. They want manual trans race cars with absolutely NO creature comforts.

Forget new models (the rumored racing version of the Boxster, codenamed "Alligator"), or any real racing models. The end is near!!!!

Oh, wait.

400hp facelifted Evora, is my guess. I don't think they will do a convertible version for a while if ever...

Does that count as a "new vehicle" as described in the OP?

** save ~10 lbs gain 1 hp ** EQ: Y=(190*X) / (1984-X) where Y is (HP) and X is (lbs)

I guess that would depend on their definition of "new".

Might still see the Exige V6 here some day.

This new "model" might be something to get excited about.

The New Jaguar F-PACE - A Luxury Crossover SUV | Jaguar USA might predict the competition in an suv sorta vehicle that Lotus would face. But maybe they will come up with a new twist. Might be quite fun to have.

Anyone can make something complicated. It takes genius to make it simple. Einstein.

I have some solid intel. Someone on the inside. Please keep this close to your vest.

LOTUS is going big. Real big. They have in fact produced the 5 entirely new vehicles that were unveiled in Paris. all the engineering and and design was done hush hush, but the cars are now in production.

All 5 cars that were unveiled in Paris were just a test marketing ploy, but now are actually being shipped this year.

It's been real hard to have this knowledge the last couple of years and not be able to share it with the LT community. I feel unburdened and liberated to be the first to break the news.
