Lotus Le Mans Cars Siezed by Creditors

Quote:
Lotus LMP2 might not be racing in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The team is missing essential components to its car after they were seized on a court order yesterday. Specifically, the suspension and gearboxes were removed while the rest of the cars were left sitting. Alleged financial issues are at the center of the controversy and reports suggest the Kodewa squad hasn’t met financial commitments to an undisclosed partner.

A hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. GMT (11 a.m. EST) where the team will try to reach a resolution that will allow the team to participate in practice runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The two cars are meant to be driven by James Rossiter, Kevin Weeda, Christophe Bouchut (in the number 31 car) and Thomas Holzer, Dominik Kraihamer and Jan Charouz (in the number 32 car).

Yikes!

Does this indicate anything about the finances of Lotus the car company, though?

Isn't the racing team completely separate? Or is that just the F1 team?

Well, they did hire Swiss Beets to try to give the brand more urban cred. This seems to be right in line with his plan.

LOTUS PRAGA LMP2 STATEMENT

CREATED ON 19 JUNE 2013
Lotus Praga LMP2/Kodewa have instructed their lawyers to file a criminal complaint against Stéphane Chosse, Adess AG and SCE Solutions on Monday, 17th June 2013.

Stéphane Chosse is in debt and owes Kodewa a seven-figure amount. Chosse presented fictitious and not justified invoices to the court in France. He insisted that Kodewa is in debt. This is not true.

On Tuesday evening (18th June), a bailiff seized parts of the Lotus Praga T128 LMP2 cars.

The court in Le Mans decided this afternoon (19th June) to give the seized parts back to the team as the allegations were reasonless.

Kodewa will take further action against Stéphane Chosse, Adess AG and SCE Solutions."
