Dustball Rally needs Evoras - Aug 5-10 - Austin to Chicago

I rarely come out of lurker status, but I'll be attending my 4th Dustball Rally this summer, Aug 5-10, 2014, and I thought we need some Lotus eye candy for this round. The Evora is a perfect car for this rally.

The Dustball Rally is 2000 miles and 4 days of driving. The 5th day is to relax and enjoy the destination city with generally a party that night. 2014 is Austin to Chicago. Your registration fee covers the hotels which are reserved in your name. You will travel to three unknown cities on the way. You don't know where you're going until you're on the way each day.

If you are familiar with the SCCA gimmick rallies, that's essentially what this is. Take it slow. Break a land-speed record. Find a nice spirited pace somewhere between like many do. Be a lone wolf. Hang in a pack. You get to choose your style of rallying.

If you think this is similar to other big-name rallies, you'd be wrong. Dustball is about the camaraderie and the ROADS. You won't be taking the fastest route from A to B. Prime example last year: driving from Memphis to Atlanta on Day 2...via Tail of the Dragon. You never know what great roads we'll take, or if you'll be loading your car on a ferry, or if local police will close 15+ miles of deserted highway for your enjoyment, or what great scenic landmarks you'll visit. You just know it's the most fun you'll have in your car. Seriously.

Any car is welcome, although an Elise/Exige might make for a super long week.

I've done the Autoweek American Adventure rally in the cartoon car. It did make for a bit of a long week, but it's doable. They say the mind doesn't remember pain...which must be true, 'cause I did the One-Lap of America later in the same car.

Trust me, it'll be more than worth it. I plan on the Evora being my next toy, almost solely because it is possibly the perfect car for this style of driving.

Sounds like you've got the perfect mindset for this. Bring it! Also, it's great to see you over at DFWAC. How'd you find it?
