TX registration

Was checking a carfax for a Lotus that spent its life in TX. I noticed every late-Dec or early-Jan it would report “registration issued or renewned. Loan or lein reported. Passed safety inspection”

Is this a standard procedure in TX? Im in CA and it definitely is not like this. Kinda makes it hard to figure out the real # of owners

You need a yearly saftey/emissions (If you live in an emissions county) inspection for cars older than 2 and same on registration so thats normal. In Ca you need SMOG every two and registration every year so thats not too different except for some crazy reason no safety inspection (I have houses in both states). When you do it is based on when it was first bought or brought back in to compliance. Big difference is you can get modified cars thru the emission inspection with much greater ease than in California.
