Motorsports shops in Boston (Southern)

I have a friend who wants to do HPDE's w/ me but needs a helmet.

I know of HMS Motorsports in Danvers, MA but does anyone know of any shops in the Foxboro area (as it's difficult for him to get away to drive all the way to Danvers). Maybe somewhere near Providence, RI ??

There's really not a place local, if he wants to try on some helmets I think he's going to need to travel a bit.

The last time I bought a helmet was 10+ years ago, and I think I went to turner motorsports. Even there, there was like 2 options that were somewhat affordable, and one fit pretty well and the other not at all, so it was pretty limited still.

Now 10 years later I need a new helmet, I'm just going to stick with the same manufacturer HJC, mainly due to the fit and price point is still good.

Where are you guys located, I live on the south shore

Acton/Concord for me.

Yes, I have the HJC helmet (via HMS Motorsports in Danvers).

SCDA @ Thompson Raceway in CT (very northeast corner, just off I-395) on Monday.

As of yesterday, 2 novice slots remain.

I've bought 2 HJC helmets from HMS, one in 2008 and one 3-4 years ago.. the first one was great. The second one was trash. The liner self shredded in about a half dozen autocross events. I'm using the old cheek pads in the new helmet now and trying to ignore the strings tickling my chin....

If you contact Elivan ahead of time, he typically has a handful of loaner helmets on hand in different sizes. Don’t expect a carbon fiber with a HANS device, but could work out for the day. Is this just a one time try to see if track days are of further interest?

There are a few ATV/motorcycle shops around that stock HJC, I bought my last one from a place in W Bridgewater. They have a ton of brands and sizes, but most are M rated, not SA. I'm surprised how many clubs are insisting on SA now. At the very least he can try on different brands and sizes, figure out if he wants open or full face.

Thanks all. Yea, he is just dipping his toes into HPDE and as a small biz owner, it's hard to get away for a day to test helmets but we'll figure something out.

Yes, Elivan did make the offer to borrow/rent a helmet so he'll probably do that.

There aren't any shops up here either, so I always end up measuring my head and buying 3 different brands online from someplace with a good return policy. Annoying but better than nothing.
