The wing and wheels on the Elise SC are growing on me.

Of course, growing from hate to indifferent.

Love the red/white of the Red Elise. Love the dash. Is CA a special model? Also will all 08 Elise have the holes by the headrest in the seat? Love the look. Or is it a special CA model only?

Also any rear pics of the SC Elise? Different badging?

The 2-eleven's IC location is not optimal. Air is brought in at a parallel angle as opposed to the Exige S's perpendicular angle. Also the IC pipes are VERY long, throttle response probably suffers.

2006 Elise ST (someone else has it now . . . )
2008 Exige S240 ST

Overheard in Lotus Engineering's New Variations on Old Themes Dept:

CEO: We need some new ideas quick! How can we sell more of these standard Elises now that everyone knows we've got a supercharged one on the way?

Engineer 1: Well, I suppose we could tart it up a bit. It hasn't seemed to work for the type 25, type 72, or the Europa... I suppose it's about due to work this time.

Engineer 2: Yes, but what if this time we slap a limited color on it and call it a special edition? I've got a few pints of paint left over from remodeling my kitchen.

Engineer 3: Brilliant! And what if we see how many dead cows we can fit into the interior? Then we can revive our ever successful "Business Class by Lotus" tagline!

CEO: It's settled then - we'll do it. And we'll call it the California edition. Those idiots will buy anything. Just look at how much they're paying for homes in the desert!

According to Partick, throttle response is great...as good as his normally aspirated Exige. And, supposedely the 2-11 I/C gets more air than the Cup 255 I/C given the location of the air inlets/ducts on the topside of the 2/11 bodywork. But who knows...it probably sucks.... pun intended.

Besides, the exhaust/muffler looks dirty too....

The Elise Wing...

I have a feeling that if any of the regular Elise vendor had come up with such a wing, they wouldn't sell any.

How in the world did Lotus designers came up with such an ugly wing? It completely destroys the lines of the car. After viewing the movie about how they made the 1-11. And seeing how hard the engineers had to work to convince the designers that the car needed the rear lip our cars have. I am pretty sure they didn't use the designers at all. Marketing probably asked some of their staff to draw a wing and stuck it on the car while the real designers were on vacation. Hideous.

The wheels are left overs from Europa. No big deal. Lotus needed to do something with them.

Did you see the ugly chrome front grill on the front of the CA model?

The Exige IC air inlet takes the hot air from the radiator.

The 2-Eleven aerodynamics are designed to clean the airflow before it gets to the IC intake, it works very well

Are the edges of the Elise's spoiler (by the reflectors) flush with the body or is there a small gap there?
